International Championship Chennai - a grass option???

Want to talk about the original Top Spin? This is the place to do it.

What do you think?

It is a good court (not much lag etc.). We should test it.

It isn't a decent court. Too much lag due to the audience etc.

International Championship Chennai - a grass option???

Postby bergkamptheone » Wed, 06 Jun 2007 16:06

Hey,

i recently heard this court (look above) has a pretty good connection, although there's is an audience etc. Additionally, it is faster than Hamburg, for example.

So I would like to know if you have already played on this court?? If so, what's your opinion/experience about it ???

If nearly everyone likes this court, it might be an option besides the Hamburg grass court...

This court was already used two years ago in Davis Cup matches and in some tournaments. It has a very good connection even if it has an audience. I, for example played against Phil Hess two days ago on it and it worked very well. However for matches for example between Europeans and North or South Americans I reccomend Hamburg. Between Europeans I prefer Chennai. And the audience gives a better feeling to the game.

P.S: Berg you remember you reccomend the Tashkent court. Lately players that usually have good connection are complaining about this court. For example against Sunny or Punni I have a very good connection and when he played last month on that court it has many bugs, like the player doesn't move after service or the ball goes too slow, compared with Antananarivo where I never saw Punni and Sunny have what they had on Tashkent. I think that maybe it would be better if Tashkent is forgotten as an second option. A second option could be the Hangar, indoor. In my opinion it's a very good court, a bit dark for some players but I see quite well and for example against Elargento we always play on that court and we have a much better connection that on Antananarivo. If people find it too dark I think it would be better to stay only with Antananarivo.

I surely prefer Hamburg because i dont like the green shade of this court; moreover i am not yet used to play with audience... :?

Well I agree on that part with you Dave. The green of Hamburg is more atractive, invites for play  and it's possible to see the ball clearly better and beyond that it reminds me my times of childhood where I used to play on the fields, lolololol  ...

NOT!

P.S: Still I like very much Chennai.

yeaaaah, i got the tip from oblivion, and we played him. First i was shocked about the speed. And the conection was so clear and good , so that i could make the risk shot perfect.... So i played him with sunny and punny in reg and sim.... they like him too... so between the balls the change of view goes perfect to the next step of view... Thats it i thougt .... THAT IS THE COURT WITHOUT LAG !!! So i meet tony in gamespy and we tried the court.... with normal 300 ms ping, the normal Lag.... in the game it wasnt any from this to see.. I saw when we played how Tony like the match and comes better and better in match.....And shot me up !!!! After the match said Tony to me that it was an perfect court.... and he wish that the court comes to TNT..... THAT WHAT I WISH ME TOO..... pahhh What is Hamburg when i can play CHENNAI !!!! so give your vote to this court.. test him all... and vote for him...So we have then a new court....
bye

I played on a grand slam court with a guy in Germany . . . So, if GS is in the mood for it, I will try it. :)

Well,
I think everyone will play white-dressed, because I think we all should play white-dressed at Wimbledon again.

As Serena Williams did in Australian Open. I wathched an interview where she said that she designed that strange green/yellow/flash-lemon dress in order to confuse her opponents because it was a similar color to the ball. She could have used a red/clay dress in Roland Garros, maybe if she had do that she wouldn't take such a big lesson from Henin.

In matches there is really no lag on that court. But in others it is bigger than in Hamburg. So I am not sure about that court.

Oh, I would have some problems with my green dressed player then

Nevertheless I saw the ball :P
