Perfect answer.

Seriously, people in the thread were nice enough to explain over and over that there is no special trick, only a lot of small things put together, making detailled explanations of moving, trying to see if the problem wasn't outside the game (PC framerate, controller)... but you keep insisting on "Surely there is a big thing making you move faster !". Well, it doesn't exist, what can we say ?

Rusty96 wrote:i have just copied the way Richie was running

No, all you did is going in the same direction. The way you move your controller stick and the way he moves his are different. How do I know it ? Because you're slower. Like Djarvik said, before the opponent hits the ball, the character is moving a little thanks to inertia, but Richie's controller stick in center position, his thumb ready to go either left or right. When he moves his thumb, his player immediately reacts, because in TE your player starts running faster when he already has a little speed.

On your side, you are probably moving to the right, with your stick to the right, then immediately go full left. In TE, your character has to stop moving right, reach 0 speed, then starts going left. So of course you're slower than Richie.

That being said, it's hard to have such precise movements. Everybody tells you to train, because that's how every top player became what they are. No awesome trick. Game mechanics to master, yes, like in every game... But even people who master those mechanics have trouble explaining them and have no method to give, because it's totally subconscious.
Usually very patient people here are getting pissed, that should give you a hint : this thread is going in circles.

Yes, it is going in circles because nobody has ever said how the best are moving his stick different. I already tested interia and runing in circles but my player always stayed so slow. These 2 things were told, not more.

Man, Djarvik already stated the difference pretty clearly.

djarvik wrote:You press left, get to the point, then press right. Richie presses left, releases before getting to the point and lets the inertia carry him to the point, then presses right.

Now you can't expect people to tell you where to put your stick at each exact moment of every point. Most people play with keyboard, and even pad players can't move your stick for you, you see.

What djarvik stated is inertia and I did exactly what you quoted to move....

Try not to smash the racket at every point lost: maybe it won't make you move better but, at least, you'll be able to focus more on the game (--> next point) and less on self-commiserating (which is leading you nowhere, last pages prove it).
You should also realize that a eight pages thread full of useful advices is not that common for a newcomer to get, if I were in your shoes I'd care more about what has already been said instead of asking again and again in search of some kind of magical technique.

I appreciate that there have been so many posts. But all in all in all these posts there have been only 2 advices concerning increasing speed of player movement which are inerita and running in circles. Unfortunately none of them 2 helped my player to run faster so I am still on day 1 level in this area and proabably this won't change as a reason for this significant difference of running time was never found. My time which was half a second slower on a very short distance was my fastest time which i scored in several tries, trying to work with inerita (so release the button already a while before changing direction) and running in circles.

If there is really absolutely nothing apart from these 2 things I am maybe simply to dumb for this game.

Thank you for the advise but I don't think your tip is too useful to improve my player's speed.

I felt like I reacted really good recently so I watch my replays and in fact I didn't react worse than my opponents but still there is something missing to be able to cover the court.

I am playing since almost 1 year now, have played hundreds of matches on-/ and offline.
But I still can't really compete with players who are average or better here. What makes me wonder is that some new players in the game seem to be way better straight away and can compete with the best.
My main problem is still the movement. I still feel to slow to cover the whole court despite playing with a fast player.

I have played 3500 sets in over 3 years and I still cant compete with top players.....

Chances are you will never be a Top player. Sorry, a bit harsh, but this is coming from a personal experience.

New players that are coming in and are good right away are either super talented or coming from years of experience on Mana tour.

All I can say is keep playing... Inseedieous for example was a decent player for a while - but last season he exploded into a TOP guy after a few years. So it can happen. If I had to point out what changed - he stopped making mistakes and he started to use the net play more. Thats about it. A few small adjustments to strategy combined with earned (years of practice) consistency and poof! .... he is a top guy.
Level 13 Edberg and counting...

I don't expect to win slams or to win against no1. I only want to be able to at least win some matches against average itst players and be able to go to 3rd or 4th round in Slams 2 times a year, you know just be able to have nice battles and be able to go deep in a few Tour events.
But every player I play seems to have understood moving patterns better than me and I get often hammered off court in matches which are just too one sided to enjoy them.
what results in being ranked outside top 50 while having played almost most events of all players in 2015.

The secret to improve is trying to optimize your pc settings, controls system, tactics, etc.

That won't improve your game itself, but, by the time you'll care about it, you will have reach the right motivation to improve seriously.
