I've just watched the first set of the dmo. Congratulations to both of you guys, that was a great final indeed. That was impressive to see how fast you played, really nice to watch it, although seeing you raising your hands every time the opponent made an UE was...charming :P

maybe it'd be time for you to stop with AutoStep Back obsession, it's becoming rather compulsive.

Maybe.

Like someone wrote recently, probably not more compulsive than your praising about previews.
By the way we probably have different views about what a tennis sim should be (in a competitive environment from my part, wich is a specific context) but it's not the end of the world, i can live with it. I just wish you'd allow each community to tweak your game either ways and have the choice to play according their respective tastes and objectives. Open your game like a sandbox, instead of enforcing "the way you think it should be played", then we may have a tour with previews, av.autopos, heck.. auto*everything*, along with our custom Sim tour the way we need it, and everyone will be happy. It should be that way. Please make the auto-step back assist toggleable, and speed conversion on both axis tweakable, both via modding (gamesys.ini), thank you ?

All i can say is that we played some TE 1.0e (with ITST mod 1.13) recently with Vmoe. This version had his flaws, undeniably, i guess any game version has some. But it was more enjoyable, hands down. At least for us. Just a fact.

Elias,
the difference between you & me is that I stand by the facts and only the facts, while you are just down right hallucinating, re-read this :
Elias wrote:When triggering it's more like 2-3 steps, skyroketting the char in the right direction

and then (re-)watch my video...
So except that the AutoStep Back is a powerful hallucinogen for you, I didn't find it any _real_ downside to it... You're still welcome to prove me wrong with a .dmo or a video, though, like I asked you ... 8 months ago !

And hopefully once & for all, stop with the misuse of Arcade/Sim term.
Arcade doesn't mean easy, it means not realistic ; and Simulation doesn't mean hard, it means realistic.
Easy = casual ; so you can call the default TE settings a casual simulation if you want ; but calling the AutoStep Back arcade while it makes the reaction time more realistic is a complete non-sense.
Also you just wrote v1.0e was more enjoyable, and the main reason (even if it seems you have trouble to see that) is coz of the _unrealistic_ speed conversion when turning around that was fixed in v1.0f ... So less realism = more for fun for you = you're an Arcade guy (no no, drop this gasoline can & this match, no need to immolate yourself, that's not so bad ;) ).

And no, I won't make the physics engine moddable, partly coz it doesn't come to the only 2 variables you're asking ; there's a bunch of stuff interacting with each other, and it usually needs coding to be tuned/improved correctly... (for example, for the speed acceleration which is tightly tied to all that, I tried 4 or 5 different type of functions in addition of several variables when I tuned it for v1.0d).

Guys it's a pity to see you disagree so much on a subject like that... You should talk a bit in private and try to definitely solve your disagreement to advance together. It's in the interest of the 300 people that have bought the game and play here !

Nobody can indeed deny the fact that Elias and the staff have created a very specific experience that bring more and more players everyday on Tennis Elbow. His advice can't be put aside, he knows what he talks about, he needs to be listened. Now if Manu you want a proof, Elias, you should take time and explain him. It's also in the interest of the community to prove him what you're talking about. I mean, try to discuss on Skype or stuff like that ;)

ps : I appreciated more the game in 1.0E as well because I have the feeling the ball physic and trajectories have changed since that (more "moon" trajectories of the ball since F, as if there is more spin). Before, the ball was more direct, fast and rectilign it was more exciting tennis.
But I still enjoy a lot the game as it is now, it's just a different experience, more defensive.

C4iLL,
ball physics didn't change since very long time.
I heard a good bunch of people stand more far from the baseline since v1.0f, so I guess it's why you get more curved balls.
