Elias,
the difference between you & me is that I stand by the facts and only the facts, while you are just down right hallucinating, re-read this :

and then (re-)watch my video...
So except that the AutoStep Back is a powerful hallucinogen for you, I didn't find it any _real_ downside to it... You're still welcome to prove me wrong with a .dmo or a video, though, like I asked you ... 8 months ago !
And hopefully once & for all, stop with the misuse of Arcade/Sim term.
Arcade doesn't mean easy, it means not realistic ; and Simulation doesn't mean hard, it means realistic.
Easy = casual ; so you can call the default TE settings a casual simulation if you want ; but calling the AutoStep Back arcade while it makes the reaction time more realistic is a complete non-sense.
Also you just wrote v1.0e was more enjoyable, and the main reason (even if it seems you have trouble to see that) is coz of the _unrealistic_ speed conversion when turning around that was fixed in v1.0f ... So less realism = more for fun for you = you're an Arcade guy (no no, drop this gasoline can & this match, no need to immolate yourself, that's not so bad

).
And no, I won't make the physics engine moddable, partly coz it doesn't come to the only 2 variables you're asking ; there's a bunch of stuff interacting with each other, and it usually needs coding to be tuned/improved correctly... (for example, for the speed acceleration which is tightly tied to all that, I tried 4 or 5 different type of functions in addition of several variables when I tuned it for v1.0d).
