So Federer just lost the Basel final to Delpo and also withdrew from Paris. Regardless of what happens in Paris, Nole will reclaim the No. 1 position next Monday and most likely keep it until year's end.

Thoughts? Group A looks like hell but Tsonga has an extremely poor record against Top 10 players this year, 1-11 or something. Tipsarevic takes Nadal's spot.

On paper, and I repeat on paper, Federer couldn't "pick" any better group.
But the truth is that only Tipsarevic is the "easy" guy, Ferrer is in great shape and Roger will have to be careful. Delpò won the last meetin against the Swiss, and on this court he won the match in 2009 round robin.

Group A is a living hell :mrgreen:

But I think Djokovic and Murray will qualify anyway. Berdych is discontinuous, Tsonga isn't having a good shape period, and Nole and ANdy preserved energies for the Master.

Skipping Miami makes sense be cause he doesn't have many points to defend and the big back-to-back Florida Masters are physically demanding. Monte Carlo is clay and non-mandatory anyway but skipping Basel comes as a surprise.
