I bought the real game, and installed these updates but I think something is wrong... when I play a match the surrounding, meaning the audience, is colored totally white.. when I played an online match it also said "Fake" Roger Federer. And when I created a new profile with the name ITST I never get the option to join online gaming.

Also I noticed, that when I wanted to start the game after step 2, it said files are missing or wrong version or corrupt files. But when I follow step 3 the game works again.. perhaps something went wrong in the 2nd download.. I installed the game about 3/4 times but nothing changed... I'm positive I did everything the right way.

anyone any idea?

Switch to 2D courts.

Online Game with ITST patch will be possible ONLY against players who have ITST Patch as well. I suggest to have instances two games installed if you plan to play online matches with players other then from ITST. Keep one "stock" with no patches and use it to play online matches against the non-ITST guys.

ALL STEPS MUST BE DONE AND IN ORDER! The third step of ITST patch actually fixes the problem that everyone has when trying to play with Sam's patch and the latest version of the game. I could have spelled out which files to copy and delete where, but I decided to include all the necessary files in a simple downloadable patch.

-----------------------------------------

A little note on the courts: Someone asked me via PM if the 8 courts that are selectable in the game are the only ones we are going to use for ITST. The answer is both, simple and complicated. The simple one is - "no", we will use variety of courts. Sam's Patch has over 100 of them.... We plan to slowly go over them and use only the ones we see fit. We will be adjusting the courts characteristics as well. The biggest hurdle right now is that games allows you to have only a small number of courts loaded up into a Training Mode. We are looking for a way to either increase this number, or a way to make is easier for our members to utilize existing courts.

I look forward to the tour.

Just a side note, the game is heavy customized. Animations that you see are not part of the game (although some are being used now as part of the game by developer). Most of these animations where done by guys like you and me, with a desire for "better things".

Once we establish a team of TE Developers, we will improve and create new animations for our Patch and tour. We are looking for guys who would be interested in helping us.

I tried to play with the settings you suggest, maybe my eyes need to adjust to it, but it really seems very hard to see the trajectory of the ball from that camera in 2D,especially in high speed exchanges..

Honestly, I don't have that issue. :? Lets see what other members think after the Test tournaments. Bottom line is: if two people who player each other on any given tour match agree to play with previews, we cannot and will not stop them. But the rules will likely stay.

I actually agree with Ugadalou here. Maybe it's because I've gotten used to playing on 3D courts but when I downloaded the ITST patch and tried playing it on 2D courts yesterday, I found a little bit hard to get the depth perception right. It was hard to judge just how deep the ball was landing a lot of the time. I don't have a problem with how far left/right it is, just the depth. I feel rally ball previews would help here or perhaps I just need to get un-used to 3D and used to 2D?

I also wonder why we're not playing with elite controls. I've been playing with them for awhile now and I like them a lot more because it's more realistic. In sim controls, it's far too easy to just use acceleration shots all the time and barely make an error but in elite controls, it often forces much more variety since you don't want to always risk missing. I'm afraid if we use sim over elite we'll only see acceleration shots and lose all the shot variety in the game like playing mostly with top spin in a critical point you really don't want to make an error on.

For now, it will be SIM controls. Maybe later we will consider Elite. Besides being realistic, it has to be fun as well. Elite controls will deter many newcomers to the tour. With auto-positioning on slow and no previews - it is a challenge enough. Hitting accelerations all the time will not be a problem in a long match. You would need to manage the stamina, so a lot of players will chose to "take it easy" and go for winners at the right times. Slow auto-positioning will also mean a lot of sub-par accelerations. Plus hitting a good deep top spin is a weapon as well. It is best to mix it up basically, but much like in real life, a well timed stroke should be the majority of your shots.

If you guys hit all your accelerations and don't miss - then you are not going for the lines. On SIM controls you can get plenty of errors and you try to "make something happened".

As I mentioned before, if both opponents would like to play with Previews - go ahead and do so. Same goes for controls. If both of you agree to play with Elite - go ahead. But the rules will be set for SIM.

I agree that some 2D courts are better then others, I think this is the main reason for your not seeing the ball well. We will do our best and try to weed out the less-then-stellar courts. I noticed that if I keep the camera on Fixed, it helps a lot.

First online match

Postby eliomelma » Mon, 05 Mar 2012 01:07

Finally i try to play online with ITST patch. First against SlicerITST but we can't connect, i Think about port 4321, and next i try against sanchez. A little review: first match the court was the original court with managames sponsors for me and sanchez, not sam patch court , the match was good with little lag in first 3 minutes of play. The second we change court and we play in perfect sam patch court without any lag, only for first 30 seconds, sanchez Ping Was 198 Max 300. Third we go on Clay and it works very good without lag and sam patch court. What wonderful different play in different court, my federer in hard hit winners but on Clay Was in trouble. We record some points
P.s. When i exit from third match the game menu Was the original, without ATP tour Images, i exit and restart and it returns to sam and itst patch , i don't know why

I want to rectify this : I did all strike styles of the original game, I didn't add anything user created. So with Sam's Patch, there are around 50% user created styles (done by Neeko), and 50% official styles. Most of my strikes are more technically correct, but Neeko strikes are often well caricatured ; ie: even if they're not technically correct, he did a nice emphase on the movements of the strike that makes it easy to identify the real player it is modeled from ; it seems though he's getting better at this and his latest creations are getting more technically correct..!

I guess I worded it wrong. Didn't mean to give more credit to anyone else but you man! :D Without you the game would not exist. A major thank you for the game and most importantly for you being here, for the support.

Online games

Postby eliomelma » Fri, 09 Mar 2012 01:07

I think that a tennis elbow tour will be great! But for me there is a problem that before of after will be fully addressed: online game. Who try to play online don't know how create a match, and many players as me have the famous problem of port 4321. We stay at the beginning and i think that some topic with aids for these issues and can helps us and the players that in future wants to play at this beautiful games on Itst and could be frightened by these problems and could leave immediately because they have more practice with instant console's games.

You are absolutely right. I will try to write up a tutorial or search out some good links on how to open up your ports and how to setup a "direct match".
