I was seeded top 32 for SF4 this year at Evo World Championships. KDZ.
Saying that a cutthroat mentality towards winning isn't applicable to TS4 because its trying to emulate a real game is more or less a copout, bordering on non-deserved arrogance.
This game is small. This community is small. There are competitive games out there based on real life things that are much bigger than this, and they all embrace the mentality of "Use what's in the game to win. Force the devolper to fix it through constant use."
Madden. $500,000 prize tournaments. More people than we could ever hope to have in their community. Tournaments allow anything overpowered in the game system that was not a game breaking glitch. There are formations that allow a man to run right past the line of scrimage at the start of the play, unimpeded unless you set aside a specific person for him. It is so powerful that EVERY player used it at the top level that year.
UFC. The game also has a community much larger than ours. There was a tactic where when you ground someone, to always go for a submission because success or fail, you always took more stamina from them than you lost. Every player worth his salt did it.
Using what's in the game to your advantage to win is what every competitive game, based on real or fictional things, does. It's called competitve play, playing to win. Remember that dunking used to be called unfair and cheating when it first happened.
Using what has unanimously been found to be a glitch that breaks the game and is uncounterable is called cheating and should be banned.
REGULATING what you personally feel is too strong, and is not a glitch nor an unintended move that shouldn't exist, is called being a scrub.
at the end of the day this is a game. If you want real tennis, grab a racquet.
1. You play videogames for a living??? if so please go hide, real man go to college, have jobs, go to gym, play sports, you play SF.
2. Congrats from being the top 32(something like that) seeded player, it must feel nice to look in the mirror and know that.
3. I conseder myself a good TS4 player, i have a decent ranking in 360 tour, will i get mad if someone who´s better than me beat? of course i will, but if that someone exploits a game glitch to do it so i´ll just laugh of this person cause its takes no skill to abuse drops or tramline service.
4. I dont play SF, dont like it(only play sports and FPS) so i cant say for sure but it appears to me that in SF is really hard to pull the glitchy and cheesy stuf, in TS4 it isnt, its easy as hell, a huy who has the game for 3 days can do it, so again the article brings little to zero use for ITST.
5. BTW i play tennis for abouts 9 years, almost whent PRO here in brazil but things didnt work out, and when i came here to ITST whas because i wanted to enjoy TS4 in a different standart than the WT, not to hear a self-absored SF PRO(still laughing about it) talk the things here arent right.
