oh so this thing where some guys maintain r1 (ps3) during the shot to make it an "approach" shot (when it s just a winner attempt) and step back instead of running the net really gives an advantage?

tell me im wrong please :( , it would be really lame and they look like idiots while performing this, it kills the esthetics of the game in my opinion.

The approach shot button is also the quick reposition button. The reason they approach after a shot is because they were holding it during the shot + moved their joystick forward.

The proper use of the quick reposition is to hold it after the shot to get back to the center more quickly at the cost of stamina. And not to pile onto all the negative comments about TS4, but stamina does jack LOL.

Sorry mate, but I completely desagree. What´s the problem to use drop volleys? Maybe it can be considered cheesy when overused, but say that the shot itself it´s not a "proper" one?!?! This is nonsense for me... :?

There is even less element of risk hitting a drop volley at the net than playing a dropshot. It is far too effective considering how easy it is to make and it renders normal volleys useless. IMO, I consider it cheesy. Had one match before where my opponent hit nothing but drop volleys every time he would rush the net. It looked ridiculous.

There's no such thing as a 'proper volley', I'm sorry....it's not some contest of who hits the most spectacular or most difficult shot.

I agree though that it's super annoying. The only reason it (drop shot 'spamming') gives me problems is cuz a lot of the time online, with lag, the other guy looks like he magically warps to the ball at the net and hits a perfect drop volley, and it's the element of surprise that really makes it so annoying. One second he's next to the right sideline, a split second later he's warped to the left sideline to drop volley your passing shot. Extremely annoying I know. I just have a feeling it wouldn't be nearly as effective if you were playing right next to the person, in real-time.

The first few split seconds where you hear/see the drop shot coming are crucial to reaching it....lag robs you of those couple seconds to read the shot

Unfortunately i noticed i keep doing that alot! why unforunately?! cause i hate the style of hitting the ball ! but i do that without control i mean i feel i can focus better when im holding R1(especially on serve) which is stupid and it put me in dangerous positions so many times cause i step in a bit so i would lose the control of the ralley if my opponent hit a deep corner shots.

It's good to know I never use RB.

You are 100% right without a doubt. Also, Bretton James does more than just have a lame setup, he constantly serves out wide when in trouble and also uses slice constantly. It's an awful experience and robs the game of any fun whatsoever. He's not alone, though. There is an unfortunately high number of players now involved with the ITST that are employing similar or worse tactics that I've experienced first hand.

I only had 2 all around player since i bought the game a few monthes ago.
i'm happy with them but if i play against a very good baseline playe(mostly ITST players)all around won't help much.
anyways...i created a player like most of WT and ITST players with CPS/IR/Rabari as my coach! i started playing the female tour, holy crap!!! every one had the same setup, it was the battle of "who hit a better timed shot", there was no winner!just long boring rallies. it was all about power shots and slices :? i could win easier with my all arounder, it was a very tiring and boring time, after 1-2 hours of playing, i got sick and deleted the player.

Honestly, 80-85 power is what I think is aggressive baseliners should CAP at. If it goes any higher, then your strokes should actually go down to high-mid 60s.

Anything above that is lame. Why lame? Because it gives you an advantage (if used right) that is not supposed to be there ...because the game has a magical button called RB, that "snaps" your player a good hitting position completely disregarding the speed stat in the process. It is very clear if you look at the animation just before your player hits the ball....it looks like you are a good 2-3 feet away from the ball, then you magically zzzzooooooommmm into the spot and hit the shot. If you are a power baseline, try to play without that button....and see how many balls you will reach and how many outs and miss-timed shots you will hit. (assuming your opponent can move the ball around a bit). Sadly, this was a problem in TS3 as well. It is still here.

This supposed to be a reposition button, AFTER the shot. Instead, it acts as a "helper" getting into position BEFORE the shot. That is what I find lame and that is the primary factor in low speed still being effective. It renders your position skills almost useless and all you have to worry about is timing.

Agreed. great post!

Wow. I didn't see this until today. I constantly serve out wide when I'm in trouble? Well that's a massive lie, I vary my serve all the time and I go for aces (which I'm assuming I did 'constantly' against you) both down the line and out wide. If you think I serve constantly out wide then you should be able to neutralize my weapon by tapping B cross court and deep. Slicing constantly as well? Spare me these outrageous accusations, I play fair and square and I haven't heard anyone complain about my game style except you. Maybe more people feel this way but they haven't blatantly voiced it like you.
