There are comments in this thread about the game being "more realistic" and more "sim" like.

I've played tennis over 15 years and this game isn't "more realistic" after the patch... it's simply less fun.

If I hit a monster forehand off of a guys weaker backhand then the point is generally over or at least WILL be after he poops his reply. (In REAL tennis)

The game was much more realistic in this respect BEFORE the patch as now it seems nearly impossible to hit a winner off of your stronger wing. And don't even attempt it off your weaker wing.

The simple fact is this is a video game. It will never be "real" tennis because it's just not.

But what it SHOULD be is FUN! And with this patch they've sapped all the fun out of this game.

I know a lot of you guys are hardcore online players and play hours and hours and are great online players. Perhaps to you the patch is great (although it seems like even some of the hardcore players on here don't like the new patch)because you devote a lot of time playing this game competitively online.

To us regular folks who like to play once in a while and have some fun... the game has completely turned a 180 and is no longer fun.

It's frustrating, boring, and simply no fun to play.

SO, as has been suggested earlier in this thread, I agree that they should UNDO the patch for us regular folks and leave the patch in tact for you online hardcore players, if that is in fact what you guys want.... the rest of us just want to go back to having fun with a video game.

I can go play real tennis (and do) all the time for a "realistic" game.

Give me a fun video game to play when I'm sitting in my living room if you don't mind.

Well the patch certainly seems to be more "pusher friendly" :P It seems possible to play defensively now and get rewarded for it. On the other hand, you need the patience of a saint to grind out some of these marathon rallies.

And it's all said. Nice post!
I completely agree with you, 2K only thought about the Online players, and forgot about the others!
There's no fun in this game now, and fun is what we want in a video game!

This is completely subjective though. I think it's MUCH more fun after the patch -- and I'm not some "online hardcore competitive gamer" as you put it. I play ITST matches, but that's about it -- I don't really play WT or anything else; I don't have that much time to sit around and play video games online.

You think it is less fun now. I think it is more fun and more realistic. I would also much rather go out and play real tennis (which I usually do), but when I'm going to play a video game I'd prefer it be like real tennis too.

This is why it's good that there are two tennis games though -- if you want to play a tennis game that's designed to be less realistic, just get Virtua Tennis! I bought Top Spin because I wanted it to be more realistic.

Yes it's completely "subjective" and obviously you like the patch. GREAT so let them have a patch for folks like YOU that play ONLINE competitively (like I wrote before) and put the offline mode BACK to the way it was before.

And I'm sorry but if you actually do play tennis and you actually think that this game is "realistic" in any way compared to real tennis I'm not really sure what game you are playing.

I have a strong serve and my forehand is a WEAPON. I use my serve to setup my forehand and when it works out I generally win the point.

This USED to be somewhat the case with the game before the patch (although no video game IMHO is "realistic" when compared to actual tennis) but now you cannot hit winners off your strong side.

How is this more "realistic" what makes it more "realistic" for you?? Because there are more unforced errors and no weapons?

To me that just makes it frustrating and boring... if "real" tennis were like that I doubt I'd play because I wouldn't be able to attack a weaker shot or weaker opponent... I'd just hang out on the court forever and wait for him to miss.

Although the way they've changed the stamina to run out like a bucket of water filled with holes doesn't even allow you to do that.

There is a way to restore the game to what it was pre-patch....you will not be able to play online with the game like that but you can play offline as much as you want

I have a bad headache don't remember what the exact process is I'm sure somebody else could explain how to clear your cache

A couple of things I am unsure / confused about:

- How do I get the players to wear all white at "Wimbledon?"

- It says at the bottom right "Nadal has made 3 faults in a row." When I looked at his statistics, it said 1 winner 0 UE. This was the 1st game btw. I always associate a fault with a serve, but when hitting what is the difference between a fault and an UE?

Sorry, didn't read through the entire post. But anyways, at least you can get the "poop" or weak replies now. It's true it is too difficult to put these away. I think that is all that needs to be adjusted. Very weak replies need to be slightly easier to put away.

The problem was before you could make it so you almost never hit a weak shot, even if your positioning or timing was way off. In this respect the patch is much more realistic.

No, the game is still not perfect, but overall it has a more realistic feel to it than it did before the patch. Before the patch it was too much like pong.

Well a UE is a fault. But there is such things as forced errors which are also faults. There is no statistic for forced errors so thats why your seeing 0 where UE's are and 1 winner.

OMG I fear the worst after this Thread, but you first have to try something out before you can talk bad or good about it. So I'll do this the next days. This Update is a Result of your ITST Wishes I think, so I have to thank you Guys and Specialists if it totally sucks.

So faults are forced errors and unforced errors? It's weird though, because the CPU hit me a ball right in the middle of the court and I hit it wide, and it didn't count as an unforced error.

Yes faults are UEs and forced errors. I'm not sure why it didnt count as a UE. Just could be a flaw in the game here and there.

I just played a little and the game seemed fine , a little more unforced errors which is fine , I still hit 8 winners on a quick game in WT ,I was able to volley and game seemed just like before , I don't know why people are saying it is boring , I saw less of those extreme angle shots which I think it is a good deal.

Good job TK2!

It felt a lot like real tennis.
