I'm the best player on the moon dudes, so I know what I'm talking about! 8)
We used to have the same problem, but we just toned down the gravity a bit for serving. We than put it back to normal for the rallies to prevent earthballing. Maybe an option for you guys as well?

Oh btw, tell that Andy Murray dude to stop attacking us!

1 - Irl, have you never missed any shot that you felt you hit perfectly fine?
2 - Completly agree, but making serve skills weaker does nothing about it. Just makes serves weaker, nothing else...
3 - I haven't played enough ITST mathes to make a comparison, but you can't say you feel the same pressure on a tennis court with a racket in your hand and in front of a TV with a controller... :)

OK, I'll play :P

1 - I never claimed that is the case. However, I don't want AI to decide that. As far as I am concerned - if I timed the shot perfect - then I dont miss. Yes. That is kinda the point of timing it "perfect". If I miss - then I did something wrong. Both IRL and Virtual. Don't you agree. ;)

2 - I said making serving "harder". Not making skill weaker. They made it easier then TS3 and in TS3 it was easy. The simply have to make direction controls more sensitive and reduce the timing window size.

3 - I am comparing pressure of sitting in front of a TV with pressure of sitting in front of the TV ;) We are both in the same situation right? So the one who can handle pressure better has an upper hand. You need to compare apples to apples.

Let's go :)

1 - Then if you try to go for the lines with a perfect timed shot, you should hit the lines, right? :p The patch made it so that AI decides when and when not to hit the lines. (edit) The problem is that the patch doesn't make you miss the serves, it makes you hit the very same serves, farther from the lines. Which means way more returnable, way less of a weapon for those who like to play with big servers.

2 - I already said I agree! :D I think the patch just made the game more one-dimensional, as it's lost one of the very few strong builds

3 - No contest, you win. :p everybody is comparing TS to real tennis, that's why I wanted to compare it too, pressure-wise

@BalkanPower: sure, that's what I'm saying. You feel you hit it perfect, but you missed. So it wasn't perfect. I'd have no trouble in letting AI decide to have me missing some shots to counter the 30:1 ratio we have for winners/errors right now.

edit2: Btw, I'm not 100% against the patch, I just feel it didn't go the right way. They just killed one strong setup, while I think they should tune down something for everybody.

1 - I am not defending the patch. Rather a principle.

2 - If you agree, then we drop #2

3 - yeah, that is what I mean.

I think we agree more then we disagree. sooooo its a DRAW! the first in tennis!

Yeah, I can't get teh patch to try it out(because the goddamn people who fixed my yellow light on ps3 did something so that it doesnt recognise ethernet cables or can't connect by bluetooth. I know the problem and I'm working on it).

But if they made serving harder then thank god. I'm not the best server, and I expect to be punished. Even I can go matches with 100% first serve. I get annoyed when I miss, but it would be realistic to be down at 60/65%. It also means when you hit a good second serve you will feel better, just like IRL.

I guess the patch is ok. They really need to allow me to hit an error whenever I want to. I refuse to play until this happens which I realize may very well be never. I'm not slightly interested in playing most times now, whereas TS3 I could hardly wait to play. I hate playing like I don't have full control of my shots and I'm sick of always hitting the lines without ever missing the line. Garbage.

I have just a 3 set match with Xavi (Moralspain) with the new patch in place....

I can absolutely see a big change in the serve. Pre-Patch I was able to hit the lines very regularly and now it is very difficult to do so with my 70 XP serve.

However whilst I am a bit gutted I can no longer hit the lines with ease (e.g. down the T) I believe you should not be able to be so accurate with a 70 XP serve. 80 or 90 perhaps. It is more realistic for sure - but thats just my first impressions.

Also the slice serve does not swing round as fast or as accurate Post-Patch which again I think is a good thing for the game and ITST. Again, this is only with regards to a 70 XP serve.

Yeah, have they brought in more errors in this patch?

Ok my impressions so far.

I feel that the players are slower. Feel heavier. and this is already offline.
BUT the run button seems to have more effect now.
I played a few matches online which I felt I couldn't get to balls I was able before and most of my game is getting balls back .
So I just didn't get it.
But it wasn't working. I got stuck on places etc.

Then I went to see offline if I could get to serve better . And to my suprise I used to run button and it worked . I was back to normal speed.
The good for the run button.
You get quicker to the net and honestly the players seem more responsive at the net.
And as the button is for lateral movement as well as coming to the net, You will see players move up to the net more. Or being forced to move more to the net.
Also you will get players to be in wierd positions to hit the ball. So more errors will occur.

The bad is that we have the run button thing like in TS3 back. But I feel this time it is more effective. So you won't get counter footed very quickly.

Did anyone else notice this?

I am happy I can still keep my defensive game going. Was a little worried after the few matches I played.

The point is that tennis , specially in video games should be about building points not about aces , so the more rallies the better , i dont understand why people just want to hit aces and win without actually playing tennis

By the way, for those of you who are mad about them taking away 1 of the monster builds. My guess is that there are more patches on the way that will be taking away the other monster builds. So for the moment there is less variety with the strongest builds, but once those builds have been taken down a little bit there will be more variety because all the second class of builds will be competitive.

IMO all that really needs to be done to patch this up is 1) introduce more errors on badly timed power and control shots, 2) make it more difficult to hit close to the lines (which will make it more difficult to pull somebody 20 feet off the court), and 3) tone down either TI, MD, or both.

Not sure about the Inside-out master / Reach Swings Expert somebody else mentioned. I haven't really felt that was unfair so far...
