Federer's glory days are over?

Why should Federer play 100% and give bagle over bagle if also 70% are enough to beat his opponents.
So for me there is not a better player in the world at the moment and neither in the next 4 years.

you've just post two assertions. could you explain that plz?

1) In my opinion, Federer needs a coach to get his forehand, backhand, and perhaps his mentality back online. That is if he wants to stay on top of men's tennis. I think we all can agree that his level of play have fallen a knotch.

2) Hence, my statement, "alright but his level of play went down for sure" had been stated to support what I said for my opinion.

What are you talking about? You can't just say "I think we all can agree that his level of play have fallen a notch" like everybody feels that way....he's won 3 grand slams this year, he wins almost every single match he plays...how much more work could he do on his FH and BH!!??? He has THE best forehand in tennis and one of the best backhands.

Do you really think Federer's glory days are over? ... He could lose a couple more matchs than past years, but he still in the top, and I think he will be there forever(Until his retire, Of course). And more, I think he'll win the GRAND SLAM , the Olimpic Games in 2008 and the MS he've lost during this year. :lol:

i remember a year when he rarely lost sets, now he many times is winning 3 set matches. i think that is a sign that maybe he isn't 100%, but who cares he still 2 levels above most of the players.

I agree with that- he DOES seem to be getting involved in a lot more 3, 4, or 5 setters recently. However, I think this is more the result of Federer maybe getting a little lazy, rather than his level of play dropping.

To me, Federer's the only player on the ATP who actually exhibits true 'genius' when playing- when you watch him play, you can just tell you are watching a genius at work. He understands the game of tennis like almost nobody in the history of the sport ever has- he was basically born to play tennis. He will be on the top for a long, long time, because there is NOBODY (AND I REPEAT NOBODY) even CLOSE to Federer's level.

I would seriously go so far as to argue that he is the most naturally gifted/talented athlete to play any sport, ever; he is seriously THAT good.

Remember the '07 AO? Well to me, that was the most perfect tennis I've ever seen in my life. I'm not exagerrating when I say that I've never seen anybody play tennis as well as Roger Federer did in this year's AO- it was seriously frightening how well he was playing. He completely DESTROYED Roddick (who was feeling very confident after recently beating Fed in an exhibition match) and then he completely BUTT-RAPED Fernando Gonzales (whose '07 AO run I consider the 2nd best tennis performance I've ever seen).

People, this was only 9 months ago! Federer has not lost his edge. He will dominate the game of tennis for a very long time.

I did say that "I think we all can . . ." as opposed to "we all can . . ." If you read the statement, you can see that it was my opinion as well. More like what Elargento, my man, stated.

I do not think that it is nothing to really fuss over, really.

it is ok to disagree. if remember well federer still had a coach back then in the AO, i think he needs a helping hand to recover his full potential. i am not aying that he is playing badly, just that the ideal thing would be to hire a new coach.
