The thread is about the most successful player, it's not a poll to determine the best looking one
Who? Who? What are you, a **** owl?

I'm really surprised nobody's picked McEnroe...maybe nobody thinks he's all that great, that he's weak and has no groundstrokes etc etc, but I'm amazed every time I watch an old tape of McEnroe...he had the most insane reflexes and hands EVER, especially with those heavy wooden sticks.

I have to admit that I think Sampras and Federer are better, but you could easily make an argument for McEnroe, just surprised nobody has.

I agree. If it weren't for the competiton at his time (Borg, Lendl, Connors) he would have won many more slams. And he was so close to winning the French, but he choked against Lendl. If he had of won that match he would be considered one of the best for sure. If you factor doubles into the equation, he could be the best. After all, doubles is tennis too.

BTW: If you've never done so, read his book. It's one of the best autobiographies I've read.

Yeah he is an amazing doubles player, I forgot to mention that. I'll check out his book, "You Cannot Be Serious", right?

Alright I'll check it out definitely.

I still am trying to put into words why I feel that Sampras is better than Federer...I don't think it has anything to do with stats or Slams won, or anything like that (because obviously Fed is going to beat Pete in that department), but more with the feeling I get when i watch Sampras play. It's the 1st volley that lands right on the baseline every time, or the running forehand that you've seen a million times but it still leaves you awe-struck, or the incomprehensible 2nd serve aces. Sampras to me represents the very last and the very best of a dead breed of tennis players and I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to accept that Federer is better.

I think Federer is amazing but he kind of seems like a robot sometimes....he is like a TS2 character with 10 stars on EVERYTHING. Which is awesome, but I guess Federer beats peoples soooooo bad that it's almost boring to watch. I think he needs to start doing 360 slam dunks or something, to keep things interesting.
