this. there was a promo tournament with TWT during the BMW Open in Munich. i signed up by mail writing that i won some tournament from a big german eSport site some years ago and got an invitation. it was a tournament with 32 entries. i won both of my 2 matches and qualified for the final rounds which will take place this Friday. it is pretty cool because the ATP tournament is taking place in the same site and we had atp players like monfils and zverev walking by several times and will as well get to see them play on friday.
i'm not sure about the gameplay yet. at first if felt pretty smooth but than it got rather frustrating because too often the player didn't react the way i wanted him to do. this could either be on me having not figured out the controls right yet or it could just be that the game doesn't have enough animations.
there is 5 shots in total (flat shot, topspin, slice, lob, drop shot) and a sprint button. there doesn't seem to be any trigger to activate some kind of 'risk' shot. it's just about how much power you give to the shots. the longer you press a button the more powerful your shot gets. but if you give too much power the chance of the shot being too long or going into the net gets higher as well.
so it was pretty much between balancing the power right. if you played to weak your opponent will get in a better field position.but if you play to strong you will risk an unforced error. sometimes the full court was open but i did just slightly overpower my shot so the winner went far behind the baseline. so next time i played it weaker resulting in my opponent reaching the ball...
slice seems to be super weak at the moment and serving was ultra strong (1-2 aces per game). but we played a beta version of the game so they might balance that in the full version.
so far it sounds pretty promising but as i said before in too many times my player produced an error or didn't place the ball well even though i did the exact same thing like 3 times before. seems like there is something more in the game that determines whether your shot becomes good or not. all in all moving towards the ball seems to be pretty important. this is was the guy from big ben told me as well. but i didn't figure out how to do it right yet. especially as the players is moving automatically to the shot once you selected a shot bottom.
i will try to introduce ITST to the guy from big ben on friday as well. maybe they are interested in any kind of cooperation.
EDIT:
i can share some more information that i have from little 'tips' during the loading screen:
- shots will become weaker and less accurate if you hit them from 'no man's land'.
- there will be new balls after every 6 or 7 games (don't remember) which will effect the serve for one game.
- your shot will be less accurate if you have to sprint towards the ball or hit it while moving.
