Revive the Davis Cup !

If so then that's fine we can start up slowly, this year just start with a draw of 4 and hopefully it inspires others to play to make it bigger and better for next year.
If the people that signed up are ready and willing to be committed to the Davis cup just say so and I'll try to set something up !

Just my opinion.

In 2014, we managed to play a Davis Cup with 9 teams made of 4-5 players. It has been a great competition, I also remember that Pidzi and Richie made a stream of their clash. It also had, like in real tennis, a strong tactical connotation - for example, with a well planned player rotation, Italian team was gonna reach the final, despite lacking of a stable top 10 guy.

The problem is that, through the whole tournament, a big % of players disappears, so it's very difficult to keep the competition going. So, the right choice was to stop the competition after SFs were partly played, several weeks, if not months, after deadline. This is already a "fail", since SFs involved some of the strongest and more active players of the tour.

Starting a new Davis Cup with just 4 teams, most of them made of just 3 players, would be a even worse fail for the competition. At the moment, new mod development is the top priority. With some luck, next year we'll reach a 8+ teams draw. And with a more strict deadline respect, we may be able to finish the tournament.

I made a very clear condition when there will be another Davis Cup:

Davis Cup has been tried in the past and, for different reasons, it always failed. We would like to try again but we see one main problem: there are not enough teams for a realistic Davis Cup. Right now I see 4 or 5 countries that could deliver 3 players who are reliable over the course of a full season. If we get 8 countries and 3 players per country (2 for Singles and 1 for Doubles) we will try again. You can PM me with a team or post it as a new topic in the following forum:

8 countries means we have three rounds, which could take place after Wimbledon, US Open and World Tour Finals, respectively. It simply makes no sense to have a Davis Cup starting with the semi finals, that is, starting it only with four teams.

Agree prretty much with everything what Inseed said.

Main issues = 1. too low active players per country or not enough players for country; 2. Davis cup is way too stretched throughout entire season which makes it hard for DC to stay alive since players tends to leave scene for certain periods; 3. Enthusiasm lowers as it takes longer and longer.

In my opinion how could DC be a relative success is that it plays out in a much shorter time period, lets say in 2, max 3 months but rather even sooner. The other condition which could make DC more attractive is to allow only countries to participate which have players only from their respective countries, nothing like merging with neighbouring countries.

Well it will definitely be hard since none of you tour moderators promote or even try to make it happen, since the DC is a great competition, you guys just sit back and give rules on to when it would be played again but don't try to motivate people for it

They tried twice in 2 years, and 1 year wasn't even started, and one didn't finish, that's why they are not contempt to running yet another thing.
