New album by Gazpacho. It's very dark, atmospheric and subtle. Enjoying it so far. And if any of you guys have an interest in speeding up the end of the universe, well, you can buy the CD.

This one doesn't have as constant a kind of theme going through it (but that comes with being more than 4 songs long), but it is a little more varied. It's similar in sound though.

Also, I had more listens to Rishloo. But it wasn't really sticking with me. Should probably put it on one night while in bed so I can focus on it. I mean, it didn't sound bad, but didn't stick me with.

Yeah, they are definitely a bit different. There is a heavy reliance on Drew and his vocals. If you "connect" with him - then it works really well, but if not - it will feel a bit vocal-heavy and overwhelming. FeatherGun is the easiest to connect with. Its not everyone cups of tea I bet.

Leprous, Gazpacho, Rishloo and Obscure Sphinx is what I listen to lately. Bu tI try lots of other stuff too.

Give them a shot, "Waiting For The Bodies Down The River Floating" is superb....a good album as a whole though.

That's another band I remember going to listen to, but never listened to. Name felt familiar, and I recognised the artwork instantly. Giving it a listen.

What did you think of The Congregation (Leprous)?

The Congregation seems the most "mature" album for them, which is logical since its the latest. But others seem more raw and seem to have just a bit more to offer. I still like it and listen to it, but I think others are simply a better records. The Congregation is very technical compare to others, well thought out - and that's to its determent.

That's how I feel as well. I think its too... mechanical sounding. Except Rewind, and maybe a couple others. I prefer Coal or Tall Poppy.

Listened a bit to Obscure Sphinx. I like her cleans, but her harshes sound like she is trying to force it. I feel she could loosen up and do them in her own style, but otherwise it's pretty good. Never got all the way through, cause sleep, but I'll definitely have a listen to the rest.

Currently replaying Molok, seeing what else I can find. Also been playing Caligula's Horse's new album. It's pretty good, but it needs more listens, i think.

Gave Molok a few listens.....its is not bad, but the mystery of Demon is gone....Sadly :P will give it a few more runs, but seems a bit rushed. Still quality stuff, just not as good as Night and Demon which were superb in my opinion.

Never heard pf Caligula's Horse, will try it. What its all about?

I quite like Molok. The unusual songs I like more, such as Algorithm, Know Your Time and Molok Rising. Some others are quite cool.

Both Night and Demon are superb, for sure. From my listens, I quite enjoyed some of their other stuff, but those two are standout.

Caligula's Horse are a kind of modern progressive rock/metal band from Australia. They were kind of... djenty in the first album, but have moved away somewhat. Has a modern, clean production, but the vocalist is pretty good. Lots of interesting textures and rhythms. Not overly heavy, but they can do that (the lead single off the new album was very... Opethian). Lots of quiet, acoustic/clean sections, building up tension and atmosphere.

Night is indeed fantastic. I really love that little theme that runs throughout, the one at the end of Massive Illusion.

Also, discovered a new band. The Dear Hunter. Progressive rock/indie rock kind of thing. Music is fantastic, vocals contentious depending on what you like. Has that kind of nasal, whiny American sound. I really like the most recent album, though if you are interested it's the most recent act in a planned 6 Act project (it's act 4). So if you want to get the whole story I would start from Act 1. I've been listening to it the other way because that's how spotify made the playlist.
