Arjen Robben is the biggest bitch I have ever seen in professional sports. Myself, I know that soccer gets a bad rap by my fellow Americans, and that it can be a physical game played by some pretty tough guys. I enjoy watching soccer and don't really see the 'flopping' as any worse than basketball.

Arjen Robben is an exception though; that guy seriously ought to be ashamed of himself and needs to have his license to be a man taken away. In the match today against Brazil (an absolutely meaningless, inconsequential match) I counted him falling to the floor FOUR TIMES in just as many minutes. Guys like him are why so many people here hate soccer and soccer players. It really has been pathetic watching this guy for the past few weeks.


I would advise him to stay away from the nation of Mexico too, if he wants to keep his head attached to his body.

but for myself ,the best at this Worldcup ( beside to win this worldcup ) is ....... we beat Brazil 7-1 in semifinal.

no doubt MESSI is the best player in the world , but ...... in my opinion , he was not the best player in this worldcup !!

Or Lahm for his last 3 games, or Schweinsteiger, who has been better and better as World Cup was going on. But Messi, who did not score any goal after round robin and who was less and less influent on the road to the final... no !

About Robben... Where do you come from, murderface ? The US ? I can understand you dislike him as he's quite an unpleasant guy. But all you say about him is exagerated and, sorry for this, makes me think you're a kind of football noob, propably because football/soccer culture on your place is not very old and deep...

On the one hand, Robben did a great WC (I could have add him on the golden ball deserving guys list ), probably the most impressive for a forward, and on the other hand, many other players spent a lot of time on the floor in this World Cup : Muller, Fred (what a joke is this guy... I hated him when he played in my team - Olympique Lyonnais - and I have to say I'm happy he was clearly ridiculous during this WC), Valbuena, Suarez, A. Sanchez, etc.

About Mexico, 2 penalty kicks for Holland were "forgotten" at the end of first half, so the final one was cruel that's true, but quite logical in the "story" of this game.

I only said that you probably come from a country where soccer culture is very "young" and not deep, which explains that you can be driven "crazy" by attitude like Robben's, though it's quite usual in soccer competition. It was even hugely worse with Italian in the 80's and 90's (go and watch Gianluca Vialli best dives or Pippo Inzaghi best fakes ).

It would be the same for me if we were talking about baseball or Lacrosse or other very American sport...

One fact doesn't make a sport culture . Your pro championship is only 10 years old or so . But that's true that this World Cup shows a real change in American people interest for soccer, at least their national team. TV audiences broke records, that's nice .

I'm sure if soccer keeps growing in the US, you won't be upset at this level against guys like Robben in 10 or 15 years max .

Besides all of this, I hope you agree Robben was most shaped player of this WC !

Let's go back to soccer : I'm very curious to see this new Miami soccer team, headed by David Beckham. Will it be quickly very popular in a city where more than 60% of people are latino. Moreover, Basketball hype should collapse for 2 or 3 years at least in Miami with Lebron move and Bosh on the way out. It will probably give good opportunity to this new soccer team to quickly rise in Miami sport scene.

And what about New York Cosmos reborn after 3 decades ? Eric Cantona, former MU superstar (but also a huge asshole in my opinion ) was supposed to lead team rebuild who should come come back in 2015, but I don't know if it's still back on track.

Nah, Ronaldo, another glorious dive-bomber, was the most shaped played at the WC. That guy is a beast.

But no, there is something I detest about Robben. And that's coming from a Liverpool fan who liked Suarez even though he has some issues... And jesus christ, Inzaghi annoyed me to ****. Great poacher, irritating character.

I am not a noob to soccer in general.

I have been watching the world cup every 4 years since at least 2000.

I've seen many many many dive artists in that time.

None of them have ever infuriated me in the same way as Robben.

The way he throws up his hands mid-dive...it deserves a punch in the face. A really hard, solid punch in the nose.

If you have time and the wherewithal to throw up your hands in faux-protest, WHILE YOU ARE FALLING....

...YOU DID NOT GET FOULED. STFU and continue playing. Go after the ball. Stop waiting for the ref to come in and give you a second chance.
