Hello Everyone!

Postby Bananas1000 » Mon, 08 Jul 2013 15:22

I'm Bananas1000, a gaming enthusiast from the Netherlands.

I recently bought Top Spin 4 for the PS3, my first console tennis game ever! :c

Since I like good competition I wanted to sign up for this league. However, I'm still somewhat of a noob when it comes to TS4 (I have no idea how Inside Out shots work for example) and while I've looked around this forum I can't really find all the rules. I've read the stickies but some are a bit vague. What is allowed and what is banned? What is considered cheese and what not? Can someone help me get started?

Cheers and I look forward to good games!

I read all those, but since I've never played online I don't understand most of it.

1. Why is dropshot spamming cheap, apart from being unrealistic?
2. What is the return glitch? Something that "pushes you back" or something? What happens?
3. What's a tramline serve? A serve that's almost horizontal cross court or something?

The links that Cro Morgan gave you explain really good the cheesy things - to resume it with a few words:

You can't abuse of dropshots during the match (one sometimes is ok but not every game, every points)
You can't do defensive dropshots (when you will almost loose a rallye and you do a dropshot, it's cheesy)
You can't do defensive lobs (same as defensive dropshots)
You can't return serves with dropshots or lobs (or power slice fronthand depending on players)
You have to serve from the center T (one step wide and then go on the center each beginning of game or set, when u see that your player is not anymore in the center)

Hope it will help, even with my poor english level^^

Thanks! That helped, I didn't know you could basically always land dropshots to get out of rallies. Your English isn't bad, en tout cas c'est mieux de mon français

1. Mostly because it is so unrealistic, partly because it's an easy way to win cheap points.
2. Hard to explain, especially since we don't want to teach people how to cheat. If you ever learn to do it, you'll know. To be honest, it may have been fixed by a patch - I never hear about it anymore.
3. Standing near the sideline to serve is a "tramline serve".

Sure of this rule??
I remember it was ok to serve from the middle or 1 or 2 steps from the middle and in many uploaded videos I saw this
Often I serve from default position, it's cheesy?? 1 time Sebastianhu said me in a msg on XBL that I serve cheesy and I didn't understand why...

Another question: If I serve in a fair position can I serve with wide slice??

I don't say service one step wide from the T is cheesy, it was just to explain the "wide serve cheese" principle.
And as almost all of my opponents on itst serve from the T, i do the same to be fair:)

And Painted, you can of course do slice wide serve if you are from a fair position!
