Anyway it's the first time Tsonga will not face a member of the big 4 in a GS SF, maybe that could solve his issues concerning the fact that he knows he isn't very good at beating twice a big 4 member in a row in a tournie.

I would agree that Ferrer's results are better head to head against Tsonga, but I'm not seeing it when you compare the two to Djokovic/Nadal.

Ferrer vs Tsonga 2-1___clay 1-0___slams 0-1

Ferrer vs Nadal 4-19___clay 1-16___slams 2-2
Tsonga vs Nadal 3-8____clay 0-2___slams 1-1

Ferrer vs Djokivic 5-10___clay 3-1___slams 0-4
Tsonga vs Djokivic 5-10___clay 0-2___slams 1-4

Ferrer vs Federer 0-14___clay 0-5___slams 0-0
Tsonga vs Federer 4-9___clay 1-1___slams 2-3

Source: http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head

Serveral side notes to these stats, most of his wins against Djokivic and nadal were when they were younger. Tsonga got way more matups against the older Federer, while Ferrer mostly got to(had the wonderful privilege to) play the younger Federer. And 1 of Ferrer's slam wins of Rafa was when his knee was injured so bad he couldnt move at the Australian.

From what i see if you go by clay record, Ferrer should win, if you go by the fact that its a grand slam record Tsonga should win.

Federer was not compared by me nor he is in RG at this point.

I compared Clay results, I was/am right.

No need for source ;)

If you go by Head to Head, Berdych would have destroyed Monfils in 3 sets (He led 3-0 in head to head, an there was at least one easy victory on clay on his h2h).

Obviously, the Tsonga beat by Ferrer on clay before was clearly not the one he will find in a couple of days : Tsonga plays in front of his public, has the best BH and service he ever had, it's a slam, he has already reached a final in AO and played several semis wheras Ferrer never reached any final.

He will even have an other edge : the victory in the double olympics semi final with Llodra vs him and Lopez. Ferrer should just give up before the nightmare begins !

Records don't show who will win, but can tell you who to favor. Berdych isn't that much better than Monfils anyway, no matter what their record against each other.

And if Tsonga wins I want to see these bold statements when he's looking at rafa/Nole c4ill

It should, but truth is that can't remember the last time a a french player won the RG so...the crowd doesn't seem to be that important in tennis
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Yeah the crowd has no impact, that's why the Argentina of Berlocq beat France of Simon and Tsonga in Davis Cup :)

The crowd has no impact because of the "pushies" of tennis. Davis cup is more fun.

Tsonga shots are not as flat as Soderling or Berdych, so for me no chance against Ferrer. Federer was mentaly on the peak of the Jungfrau or something. Tsonga backhand is just too weak. The Roland Garros crowd will scream, but not enough to beat the wall.

I'm really looking forward to the Tsonga/Ferrer match! I like both players, so it's hard to favor one over the other... But I hope Tsonga wins, as he has a much better chance of beating Nadal in the final. As much as I would love to see Ferrer in a GS title match, he'll just get ruined again.
That said, Ferrer will probably win. It's a really good matchup for him.

Either way, it guarantees a fresh face in the final. I hope it'll be competitive.
