Who cares about gulbis. I don't understand the attention he gets from tennis fans around the internet. He's ranked 53, and doesn't play that good at all. He's just one of those low-life tennis players.
IMO Janowicz is way better than him.

Who cares? I do. Not sure why you have a problem with that.

Maybe you don't know the great results Gulbis made some years ago when he was one of the greatest young talents of the tour ;) Semifinal in Rome beating Federer and going ahead of 1 set against Nadal before losing in 3rd set (maybe he also had break advantages in 2nd and/or 3rd set) and Quarter-final at Roland Garros, plus other good achievements.
Maybe you don't know his character, altought you would understand why he is not top ranked now (and he recovered 100 positions in last year!) but the tennis fans world appreciates him :)

I'm a fan of Gulbis so I don't want to knock him, however, Verdasco has been flat-out pathetic in 2013.

Guys who have beaten Verdasco in recent weeks:

Marinko Matosevic
Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo
Alejandro Falla
Tim Smyczek
Denis Istomin

At this point in his career, Verdasco is a joke.

Ah okay, so that's the story about him. From what I can understand he's the Neymar of tennis.
BTW I don't know the results he made some years ago. I started following tennis last year from the beginning of World Tour Finals.

Indeed, not a big win by any stretch, but still, beating someone who you lost before and never won is nice.

Next round will be more interesting.

Uchiha Muss, here are some of his play, check it out. If you like aggressive all-or-nothing tennis - there is no better guy 8)

Oh and the on court tantrums and off court interviews is a BIG part of why I am a fan as well.

Professional tennis needs Gulbis.

Personality-wise, tennis is at an all-time low. Even Djokovic - once a racquet-smashing crowd-entertaining impersonator - has morphed into a polite statesman for the game. Murray too.

The top players and their rivalries? Boring. Image

Totally agree.

Tennis has become one of the world's pansiest pro sports. Players are penalized for swearing or damaging equipment (even their own, wtf?), and fans applaud when someone cries after a loss.
Rivalries are nonexistent, almost everyone says the same canned line after a match. "He played a great match. I/he just played the important points better."
Sure, they're all being told to say those things by sponsors/coaches/agents etc, but tennis needs a few guys who are good enough to be in those interviews and actually say what they're thinking.

Dude, there is a reason for tennis being called "the most civilized game" in the world. In tennis you can only show your anger by gestures. Why the hell do you think every rich people who builds a mansion includes tennis court?
Simply because it requires only 2 people and unless you're sliding like djokovic you won't even get injured. FYI even obama played tennis. Bill Gates also said he plays tennis occasionally (or more often). My point is tennis is not an american football or WWE for you. If action thriller is your preference, you're in the wrong planet. :)

You speak as if tennis was always boring/civilized. Ever hear of a guy named John McEnroe?

A bold statement for someone who just started following tennis. I have been flowing/playing tennis for longer than you have been alive, and it had NEVER been so boring as it is now. Not talking about game play, rather of court.
