Richie1308 (Verdasco) def. Robbin92 (Murray) 7-5 5-7 6-3

In the first set it was obvious he was going to win it. It was a miracle I almost made it to the tiebreak, with only 3 points won on his service and under constant pressure in my own service games. Though I was able to work away the break chances, but on the fourth one (at 5-5) he won the game and served it home without trouble.

The second set was more interesting, I could take iniative some more from the baseline and did put myself in the position to go to the net. Unfortunately my net play wasn't really good today, but I still made a decent amount of points there (24/39). We played a really long game at 1-0 at his service, which he took home in the end. Though I missed some chances I felt stronger because I was able to put some pressure at his serve for the first time. I was playing better tennis at that moment and I broke at 3-2. After that I made three SV attempts, all failed and Richie broke me back immediately. Momentum shoved back to him and he was dominating again. This time, again facing break points at 5-5, I managed to hold my service and get to 6-5. At this point I wasn't able to get in his service games again, but somehow I managed to come back from 40-0 and I got the set at my second set point.

Third set started really well with long games at both sides. Our stamina kept depleting as the match lasted longer and longer. My serve let me down in the final set (46%) and Richie did make the first break at 2-2. I got in his game at 4-3, but from 30-30 we played two 30+ strokes points which he both won. In the next game Richie could take some more risk which led to some big FH winners and he won it on his first match point.

I'm happy with my level in this match, though I have to feeling I can do better at the moment, but he probably has the same feeling. Anyways, key to the match was his huge FH which caused me a lot of trouble, almost every ball hit to his FH led to me defending. Good luck in the final against clay court specialist Almagro!

You should not play with Murray Robbin, it doesn't suit to your style (my 2 cents :p)

No they don't deserve you, you give these characters hope but it's not very honest, inside of you, you perfectly know it...

Well Robbin has pretty well summed up this long, very long match. The first set was not the most interesting, we didn't feel really confident with our attacks but I adapted better than him to this fact and dominate this set to finally take it.
We started to play better in the second but stamina fastly became a problem seen our ultra long rallies (a lot of them above 20 shots) so offensive strategy was hard to put in place until the end. We had a lot of backhand to backhand rallies, I tried to turn around my backhand some times to get to my forehand which was heavy and could make much more damages than my backhand. He tried a lot of serve and volley which was a good strategy using my top spin to have easier volleys. At the end I think I was able to make the difference thanks to his fear of my forehand so I could anticipate on my backhand to try and make the difference after almost 1 hour and 20 minutes of this match.
Congrats Robbin for this fight, now I'm looking forward to the final.

Final : Richie (Verdasco) def. Cerji (Almagro) 1-6/6-3/6-0

A weird score for a weird match, in the first set I was just nowhere, I just won a service game at 0-5 to begin with my serve on the second set. In the second after a terrific 40 shots point we began to really die with our stamina and it was really hard to do anything interesting from the baseline. That's why we tried to use the net quite often despite our player's volley to try to finish points, especially him with a lot of serve and volley which worked quite great. I was able to convert one break point out of 7 in the second which was enough to win it. Then in the last set he made a bad start and gave up a little while I was at my momentum, having the confidence at this point to turn around my backhand more often to dictate the point.
So in conclusion not a very pleasant match as stamina has been only at half since the beginning of the second set but I am really pleased to win this tournament against Cerji who is a really great player in the tour !

Just watched the final, that was nice. Cerji led 5-0 in the first set, and you came back anyway. Seems like you're about to become really famous on this tour, didn't know you had improved your mental strength this much.
