Rotterdam ATP500

First round Rotterdam, Vramvrim (Wawrinka) vs C4iLL (Llodra) = 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 in 50 minutes.

Well this was a huge fight, definitely one of the most intense I ever played here. It was extremely hard to break him regarding his awesome service with wawrinka (193kmh of average, 12 aces).
On my side, I think I played at a great level at the net, I was really near the victory with 2 match points, but at the end.. Vramvrim won :)

First set : I was very opportunistic as I only got the break at 5-4 with experience.
Troughout the set, he had a couple of break points opportunities I saved. On my side, no break point, as he was really impressive.

Second set : It was very balanced, I just **** up a service game and he logically won it as he was perfect on his service.

Third set : as soon as this set began, I play at the maximum of intensity I can and I began to dominate.
After a big fight, I logically broke to lead 4-2, service to follow.

At this moment, I had the feeling the match was finished as I was a steamroller on my service games since beginning of the set. I led 40-0, Vramvrim seemed dead.

But... I made a double faut : 40-15.
I made a new double fault, 40-30. I began to tell myself "come on, you can't loose a game service after leading 40-0 after all the efforts done"... I missed a volley, 40-a.
I made a new double fault (!!!), avantage for Vramvrim. I saved it.
But I did afterwards the fourth double fault of this service game (!!!!!!) and finally lost the service... I was completely insane lol.

Vramvrim was now completely back in the game, he came back to 4-4, and until 6-5 for me, nothing special happenned.

On his service, he was led 15-40, I had then two match points.
On the first matchpoint, I think I dominated the exchange but tried a perhaps too risky net approach.
On the second he hit an ace, and finally won his service...

Beginning of tie-break, I was thinking "damn how could you have let him go to tie-break lol".
I won a mini-break, I thought I had a definitive advantage, but just afterward, he broke back, and got 2 other breaks...

He had two match points on his service. I saved the first, but not the second, and Vramvrim won !

To sum-up :
He was led 1 set to 0 but he came back.
In the third, I led 4-2 and 40-0 on my service, but I made 4 double faults and he won that game ^^
He saved 2 match points at 6-5 in the third set (15-40) but he came back.
I had 1 early mini break in the tie-break but he came back.

He definitely proved he has a great mental ! After his six match points lost at AO, it's good for him to win like that ;)

I feel sorry for you C4iLL ! But as I told you before your match began, meeting Vramvrim in the first round was definitely not a present for ya :) However, winning such a mental fight is a great revenge for Vramvrim. Congratulations to you two ;)

Unfortunately I found myself in the quarter final without spending a minute on court.
Algo and I meeted for the fourth time, last meeting was last week where I won 7-6 6-2. In comparison with that match I used Murray now instead of Tsonga.

Robbin92 (Murray) def. Algo4 (Djokovic) 6-3 6-2

The match was much closer than the scoreline indicates. We got to 2-2 in the first set when I faced 0-40, but could work them and a fourth one away. After that I changed my gameplan due to the high ping, and played more deep spins and more defensive than I'm used to. It took some time for Algo to adjuste to my new gameplan and I could take the first set with a double break. Second set went up even with Algo also playing a bit more defensive, which granted me some time to make some nice net plays. Another double break gave me the set.
Proud to be in the semifinals in my hometown and I hope the crowd helps me to reach a higher level which I will need to have a chance in the semi.

Florian (Murray) def. Richie (Tsonga) 7-6(5) 7-6(3) Very good match, Richie put my defense at risk all match long with his nice utilisation of Tsonga's big fh, especially on shot accels. First set we had the exact same w/ue ratio 21/11, while i just missed a set point at 5-4*. He was quickly ahead in the tb for a *4-1 lead, some netcord helping him on my serve point but i somehow managed to turn the 2 next rallies around and win the set. I felt better in the 2nd set but he held nicely, especially when he had to save a 0-40 at 4-4*, which he did brilliantly. From that moment on he decided to guess most of my 1st serves, which i find a bit lame even if he got aced 18 times during the match. Anyway his level droped a bit in the tb and i was able to finish ahead once more. So very good game and good luck next tournie.

A good match with Floriann, quite frustrating as there were no breaks and that serve was clearly crucial for both of the players as we had such an advantage with it. So we just got to the tie-break and see what we could do. Unfortunately for me first serves didn't come as I would have prefered in the first one and he was able to bounce back and get it, he stayed solid and consistent. Quite the same story in the second set, I am able to come back from a 0-40 to win the game but in the tie-break I was dominated and had no chance in return as in all the match, even on second serves.

Anyway well played Floriann, you did what you had to do to stay focus all match long. Now I'm going to concentrate on Memphis and Acapulco tournaments and hope to make good results there. :)

AlexJasmind ef Floriann- 2-6 6-3 6-4

Such intense match and was very very tough. On the 1st set i was a bit unfocuysed and he played very good hitting hard and trying to go for the winners and making good returns. 2nd set i started to play bettrer and finally broke his serve that was an important thing, I manage to break him and carry the momentum till the 3rd set. 3rd set i start with 2 breaks and a 3-o lead which he then recovers and makes the 4-4, 4-4 I break and then close the match. He did some errors on the important moments and that cost him the match, I'm happy with how I'm playing and still unbeatable :D

Congrats to Alex! Indoors Simon is a good choice, his lower Spin making up for a bit lack of power and making Murray's Spin easier to handle (in our roster Simon is like Davydenko with a bit better serve and better defence). Will be interesting to see who will get your scalp first this season, everyone must be highly motivated playing you (except Florian, I guess ;)).

Alex played well, surely my spin didn't bother him enough since he could catch those quicker than with any other player. He also got suddenly lots of deep consecutively shots impossible to anticipate in the 3rd set, and did 2 idiots ues which should have been clean winners at *4-4 so everything made his victory a bit easier in the 3rd, congrats !

It's surely because of Robbin, this guy often causes problems...

Felipe (djokovic) def Robbin92 (murray) 6-1 6-3

After a few days delay Felipe and I continued at 2-1 40-40.
His first return was a net cord winner and then I made a stupid mistake so he broke me immediately.
After that I played my normal tactic, whether it were the few days I didn't play or the high delay I don't know, but everything went out even with a green aiming zone.
Ended up with a dramatic 47% first service, 10 winners and 24 errors.
Too bad I couldn't reach the level I had the first time we played when we had some nice rallies and fighting.
GL in the final Felipe.
