The death of topsin n the rise of TE...

Postby Tamthewasp » Tue, 23 Oct 2012 23:21

It's clear to everyone that topspin 4 is dying a slow a slow death an Tennis elbow is growing in stature...

I have no doubt that TE is a great game but it does worry me that management are focusing more on TE and letting the die hard core of the site down...

Are you saying that TE players are not "die hard core of the site" :? When was that decided?

I don't see how we are letting anybody down. The game lived its course, it nearing its end, nothing wrong with that.

Looking to blame the management somehow is totally wrong. Our focus is on Members and their wishes, always been always will be.

Well as TE is kinda new 2 to itst. I understand building the game up and making it as popular as possible and getting a market for it was the first challenge . The work Elias n Co put in made it easy for itst to focus on this game Anne b pre itst Patch djarvik said TE was the future of itst

Its fine to say i think TE is going to improve the site....but at least admit that after all the hard work work an, effort you have put into a game that you an many think is broke
., that you have now focused on TE and kinda let TS4 Fade

Exactly.

If TS4 appears to be taking a back seat it's because of the members, not management. Not our fault that 9 of 10 forum posts is a TE post. That said, it's entirely understandable. The older the game, the less people who play/post on forum. It's been that way with TS1, TS2, TS3 and yes, TS4.

It's not like we've steered members from TS4 and towards TE. It's the exact opposite.... members have steered us from TS4 and towards TE.

I'm not saying you have driven any 1 from topspin to TE. As djarvik said it ran its course, I wasn't around TS1 2 or 3 but to me a lot of people left because of the patch glitch and even before that. Al you said it was a broken game. An with the the patch glitch it caused so much beef..
For myself. It seemed when the pre glitch was known an ppl left, wether intentional or not that maybe you let ts4 slide knowing you had a new game to focus on.. An getting TE perfect just let topspin 4 drift a little.

I'm not for a second slagging or blaming any of you, I'm just giving my thoughts

Those time periods do not really match. Im pretty sure players started leaving due to the pre patch glitch well before we started TE. If im wrong please correct me. People left due to it and actually i can understand why. This issue has not been solved by 2K and we did a lot to find out how we could find the people who used the glitch. But there has never been a definite way. In the end we had to go complaint by complaint which totally sucked and did cost a lot of time of the hosts. All in all i think we spent a lot more time behind the scenes on this issue then you can imagine.

Really, if we had spent 100% of our available time on TS4 the number of sign ups would not be any higher then they are now. And ITST would have been gone when the tour ended. But like Al said, these last few months we have not let anything undone that we usually would do. We are commited to have the tour last for a long time. But in the end you should be pissed with 2k for not fixing this patch glitch issue and not with us.

I dont mind some critique on the management even if you did not mean it like that (just thoughts like you said). But come with some concrete points that we can work on. Not what you feel has happened but things we can work on and improve to ensure another year of TS4.

You should look at it from a more positive angle. TE ensures that ITST is still around for TS5. Which we will of course support if it comes around. Once a site has been dead for a while starting it back up is never with the same group of people and it is never the same as it was before.

I say the opposite, i don't understand how people still plays TS4, me included, without ITST i would stop playing.

Ye John I only play it because of ITST. I do blame 2K for killing the game.

Wrong phrase when I used die hard core. An I fully understand the behind the scenes work being put in, You all do great work.

All I can think of is exhibition style tournaments for example pros n regular or certain pros only or even a random pro selection tourney but would these work, I doubt it.

Maybe I'm just getted many great players have moved on it's hurt the tour a lot.

I know more than 10 guys who played at ITST and are not even online on ps3 since months. they didn't left because of ts4. They left because they had other stuff to deal with in their life.
