Maybe the best players racket on the market today

Postby jayl0ve » Sat, 13 Aug 2011 10:01

Man I tried a slam dunk today and just totally whiffed on the ball.

Actually it wasn't so much a whiff as I just didn't jump nearly high enough

I was already tired so I guess I have a slight excuse.

Nice topic! Well I am playing now with a Wilson Kfactor ksix one 95 (18x20), really enjoying it and feel i have much better control with this racquet. I play usually 3 times a week.
Used to have the ksix one team (wife thought i was going to love it, she was so wrong) hated its guts, it did not ended up well (i am talking about the racquet here, not about my wife)... mmmmm lets say it was all over the court?? :P its head is to light for my taste.... thats why it flew far away in the air!

Before that I tested the ksix one tour, like the one Fed uses but its way to heavy after the first set, i have no clue how can fed generate so much pace with that racquet, its like playing tennis with a heavy stick.

Used to play way before with a Head iprestige... amazing racquet specially the midsize plus version, felt my service had much more kick and my volleys were better.

So, if there is ever a itst real tourney, ECUADOR is really and technically in the middle of the world so it should be here where the torunament is done, half way for Americans, half way for Europeans

i sold my Volkl Organix 325, didn't work for me....which means that i wasn't winning many matches using that stick  , well the thing is that 2 weeks ago i got the old version..the Volkl Powerbridge 295 (TWEurope), first time in my life i use a racquet that light, but wow it's an awesome racquet and pretty solid despite its weight, i also love the thin beam, you can really feel every shot. Good decision.

Strings: ALU Power 25 kg, as always

Volkl makes great frames man. All I tried so far are awesome. Very unique feel. Demo more of them man, if you have a chance. Each one has its benefits and even the light Volkl rackets play great.

No surprise that even the lighter 295 feels solid. The swingweight is almost exactly the same as the 325. If you take the 295, add about 30 grams to the handle, you pretty much have the 325.

This is a very interesting experiment! Rob, can you help me with lead?

I have my wife's 295's, 3 of them, and now I am curios if I lead them up to the same weight as mine 325 - will it really play identical? (I know there will always be some variations).

Theoretically it should (?)

They are made from the same material, but one is lighter then the other, question is why? Where is that extra weight? Since 325 is 7 points head light as opposed to 3 points on 295, handle seems like the right spot, but 30gram?? Shouldn't it make even more headlight?

You would need to add the weight near the top of the handle, maybe 4-5 inches from the butt.

If you use a 1 hander, you can just wrap the lead around the handle, under the grip. But this will build the grip up, so if you use a 2 hander it could be an issue. For that, you would need to put the weight inside the handle, which involves using something like hot glue to hold it in place, and possibly removing some material from the racquet (just some foam, which can be removed easily). Another option is the remove the handle (Volkl uses a pallet system which can be replaced) and put the weight inside there.

If you get the same weight, swingweight, and balance, then the only difference would be the flex. Since the 325 has a stiffness of 64, and the 296 has a stiffness of 62, they should be extremely close.

I remember that guy, he's been around for a while. Total hack, there's a good reason nobody else plays with that thing.

Why does he serve so weird though? That does not seem to be neccesary. The racket is i believe to have a forehand type of strike on both sides.

Maybe he just can't toss the ball reliably with his left hand so uses his right- i guess if you both toss and hit the ball with your right hand, you're gonna have to throw it pretty high!
