Here's something I found interesting:

Suppose Federer beats Murray, and Del Potro beats Djokovic. Murray would get Silver, and Del Potro would get Bronze, but in this scenario....

once Murray and Del Potro get to the semis, they both lose to and beat the same players. They both lose to Federer, and they both beat Djokovic. Doesn't exactly seem like the best system. Maybe they should play some sort of round robin once they reach the semis.

RR "finals" suck. First of all you need to play more games (6 instead of 4 in a knock-out system) and the schedule is already cramped. Secondly, there's no motivation left when you have already lost 2 matches in straight sets and not a chance left to win silver or gold.

They tried that once in the Soccer World Cup in Brazil 1950 and never again. I think in Olympic tennis in 1988 and 1992 there wasn't even a match for 3rd place, if you reached the semifnal, you already had a bronze medal secured.

Delpo was in tears after he lost to Fed but it seems that he has recovered mentally.

Fed's backhand is highly vulnerable today but this is a still a best of 5 match.
