Xavi, where is lopez' left arm going in that picture???

Why is Fed playing dubs again? I mean I guess he wants to back up his gold, but shouldn't he be more worried about a singles gold and resting? Still a long season left

why is everyone trivialising the doubles event the media and experts make seem like fed hasnt won a gold medal before . he and stan have not been given credit for the difficulty of the task they accomplished in bejing ,prior to beingnd(and even till this day) fedrinka HADNT EVEN WON A 250 EVENT AS A TEAM yet they beat the buphati and paes aka the indian express and the GOAT TEAM OF this era the bryans respectively in the quaters and semis in STRAGHT SETS back to back enroute to gold that is very impressive if stan and fed can repeat their succes in bejing that would be great besides im sure the want to prove bejing was no fluke.

Doubles players are great and talented but if you put top singles players against them the singles guys will win. It wasn't that impressive of a task if you ask me. The singles guys are better players and I would take them over the doubles teams.

Gold is gold but singles players together are better than the doubles players, in my opinion. Not taking anything away from doubles players

Most top 10 players have piss poor doubles statistics (check out Djokovic) while some of the best doubles players aren't even good enough to qualify for Singles Slams. Often when you start having your first big successes in singles, you're going to play less and less doubles.

They are trivialising it cause that is what they are used to about the doubles tour. But you are right, the doubles gold medal is just as valuable as the singles. Achieving a gold medal in for example field hockey is way easier then for example volleyball (in comparison) but we do not value these gold medals any differently. Same goes for different types of rowing disciplines for example.

It would be nice though if more singles players would enter the tournament.

Remember when nadal and Djokovic teamed up as world no 1 and 2? Lost to raonic and someone else I think. But yeah people only play doubles as they aren't good enough for singles

Even the Williams sisters (12 Doubles Slams) said that they always concentrate more on singles and that winning a doubles tournament would just be "the icing on the cake".

Of course a gold medal is a gold medal but for example the prestige of winning 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m is far higher than winning 6 or 8 gold meals in swimming events (Usain Bolt is among the Top 10 highest earning athletes with 20m last year, I think Phelps made like 4m in 2011).

Yes in the end it's just about money.

Only 16 seeded and due to the non-mixing of countries in quarters this has led to some nice early matchups. Though Isner vs Rochus is hilarious for other reasons.

Wawrinka - Murray
Nalbandian - Tipsarevic

Why is Suarez wearing blue/pink? Thought the Spanish colours were red and yellow.
