TS3 or TS4 ?????

Postby RAE1980 » Tue, 24 Jul 2012 20:13

Course is designed TS4 beautiful and worth seeing ...
but playful and realism, it has unfortunately waned ...

I want an exciting and tight victories or defeats, that is why I play topspin.

Below I will show you why I hope it will soon reflect the Topspin 3 Tour ...

Everyone must know for yourself how important is for the gameplay.

You know what's really scary and more fun why TS3
does that here ...

Compare French Open French Open 2010 TS3 vs. TS4 2012

TS3
5 Sets = 6
4 sets = 10
3 sets = 21

TS4
5 Sets = 1
4 Sets = 2
3 sets = 24

Games Lost first set 6-2 or less
TS3 = 11
Games Lost first set 6-3 and more
TS3 = 33!!

Games Lost first set 6-2 or less
TS4 = 24!
Games Lost first set 6-3 and more
TS4 = 7!

Reality =
Games Lost first set 6-2 or less = 37!!
Games Lost first set 6-3 and more = 90!!

About numbers!

This means that nearly 70% of sentences go at least 6-3.
TS3 = 40%
TS4 = 25%

I agree with RAE. The numbers illustrate beautifully what I sad in another thread.

A player the is slightly better then his opponent, maybe 5% better, can expect to win a match with a score of 6-2 6-2.

A player that is 10% better, will basically win with 6-0 6-0.

A player that is 5% worse then his opponent has no chance of winning. That is really sad (if fictional) stat.

In TS3, Norberto was better then 99% of players. Look at his scorelines. 7-6 6-4 6-3. Rarely a 6-2, 6-1, 6-0 set.

That shows, that in TS3, even a player that was not as good as top 10, was very much in the match and close with number 1 player.

Check out the last year of Norberto's TS3 tour days:
http://www.intertopspintour.net/index.p ... ts3&gc=TS3

He won every match. 32-0. Not a single 6-0. Only two sets 6-1

Now checkout Sh0cases record this year:

http://www.intertopspintour.net/index.p ... ts4&gc=TS4

It's beaming with bagels and bread-sticks.

One could argue that Sh0case is THAT much better then the rest....but I strongly disagree.

Wooo, i like TS3. It's a shame that i didnt play online on that days. It's true that TS4 it's a little boring. First days after some days without playing i get so motivated. But after 4 days i stop playing that much. I feel tired. Let's wait TS5. :)

I suggest you should bring back ts3 tour. Just spread the word that tour will be back for ts3 starting from us open or maybe even November. Take all the time it takes to acknowledge all the old members that ts3 tour will be back then see if the tour can be successful. Reading on the forums really seems that there is more interest in top spin 3 these days. So give it a try and maybe then there are enough people to continue the tour.

The difference between Norberto in TS3 and Sh0Case in TS4?

Simply:

Norberto played like a number one, won almost anything, but had "human" mistakes, he could not break anyone at will.

Sh0Case plays like a god, he has no weak spot, can hit ANY shot at ANY time at will, it s almost like he decides how many single points the opponent can do.

I don t blame anyone for anything, without evidence anyone is innocent. But some things stinks to heaven in TS4! (not from the start, March - September 2011 it was ok, but since late 2011 something changed)

I wasn't going to vote on this since I've never played TS3, but after reading what everyone has to say, i ended up voting for 3 anyway. Really can't argue with what has been said about risk/reward thing and the closeness of matches- although pre-patch this didn't seem to be as blatant an issue...

I still love TS4 and could never agree with it being called 'garbage', though probably if I'd been a TS3 player I wouldn't be as fond of it. From what I read, I gather that casual gamers and non-tennis enthusiasts found 3 overcomplicated, and since 2k is a business and not a public service for tennis fans, it seems obvious that they'd try and make it more simplistic. Shame, but that's the way of the world...

It could now go three ways i think:

a) No TS5
b) Making it even more arcadey in a last effort to actually make decent money
c) Cutting the budget and making a game which caters more to the hardcore. Smaller fanbase- but one they can rely on, but no big marketing risk a la TS4

Obviously i'd like C to happen. I'd actually be really happy if there weren't any licensed pros at all, no branded courts/clothing/equipment, as long as the gameplay is spot on.
