How to hit a drop shot or drop volley

Postby Freakazoid » Mon, 16 Jul 2012 20:32

Hello everyone,

I'm brand new to this forum, though not to the game...

I love tennis in general, and have really enjoyed this game thus far. I have not yet played anyone online, as I have only been playing the computer. I guess I'm worried about having to talk with others during a match, and while I'm sure it could be a ton of fun, it also might be very draining - and with the computer, I can more concentrate on sheer tennis.

Anyways, most of my drop shots hit the net... is there a way I can practice them, or maybe some advice anyone can give me on how to employ these shots?

Thanks so much, and it's great to see so many tennis fans!

Do you need a coach and a special skill in order to perform drop shots?

Mine usually hit the net, or else go way too long.

R2 or (RT? not an xbox user) and tap slice at the right moment on a slow or sliced ball and hold the analog stick down. Should get you a nice drop it.

Of course it also depends on the type of shot you are receiving... I think you should worry more with the rest of play than with the drop shots, honestly!

I hear you and agree on that, but I'm pretty good with the rest of the shots. The drops are the only thing that seem to evade me.

mate just like the rest of the shots timing is the key but also very important if your opponent's shot isn't weak the dropshot won't be very good i personally like to execute dropshots when my opponent slices the ball (but not a deep power slice). hope that helps!

That makes sense.

I actually tried drop shots yesterday, and got a good percentage of them over, though many times for no reason at all, they hit the net... when I was winning a rally, and the CPU opponent was way behind the baseline and had hit a weak shot, I numerous times tried to drop volley or drop shot, and the ball hit the net. Couldn't figure out why.
