Just scanned through this thread, kudos to those of you who recommended repo man, strangers on a train, the outlaw josey wales, crumb and dr. strangelove...

If I could get you all to watch one single film it would have to be 'King of the Kickboxers'. It could easily be filed under 'so bad its good' but that seems disrespectful considering there's never been any film I've had more enjoyment from- it must therefore be the absolute best i've ever seen.
There basically isn't anything in it that isn't funny. Every single line, every single facial expression, the whole thing is just pure gold from start to finish and the level never drops. I've seen it hundreds of times and still notice new ridiculous and hilarious minor details about this film every time i watch it.

Someone's posted the entire film on youtube:

Haha wow I'm actually just sitting here watching this movie, this is so awesome.

The 1st scene is so unbelievably cheesy in dialogue/acting/facial expressions while fighting.

I love how Billy Blanks has the little kid on the ground, says "Here's something to remember me by", then kicks the kid in the back of the neck

And for some reason in the very next shot there's blood all over his FACE when there wasn't before

I saw Piranha 3D a few days ago...
Same kind of pitch than the 1st Jaws (Richard Dreyfuss, dressed like in Jaws, has a funny intro sequence!)...
During a summer break with plenty of hot chicks and all, piranhas from another time start eating everybody in a frenzy mode!
I found it was quite funny!... ^^
Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown ;) ), also plays in it!

kinda been off movies lately....last thing i saw that i really really liked was probably 'Source Code'....been more on TV series....

Breaking Bad.....amazing

Sopranos - can't say anything not been said already.....not an episode of that I haven't seen at least 10 times....and quite a few many more

The Wire - slow burner to start off, but amazing when viewed as a whole...rewatching for 2nd time at the moment

Deadwood - if you can get past the profanity (i barely noticed it), this is Shakespeare in the old west....absolutely fantastic, without even having to mention that all the main characters are (varyingly) accurately based on their real counterparts

Game of Thrones - was reluctant to watch, thinking am bit old now for swords and shields stuff....I was mistaken - brilliant drama

Oh, and rewatched series 1,2, and 3 of Hill St Blues recently also...had forgotten just how good that was and is still - easily as watchable now as it was waaaay back.

Anyone recommend high quality TV drama, from whichever decade?

Perhaps my favorite show of all time. Really looking forward to the next season. Glad to see Cranston getting some credit for a serious role.

Source Code was good. Interesting concept.

I'm looking forward to the new Batman, but have no interest in anything else this year as far as movies.

Yeah man, Cranston is fantastic....hard to imagine it would have been anywhere near as good with any other actor in the lead role either. They're doing another show!!!?!?! Woweeee....the way it finished, I didn't see that happening - brilliant!!!!! First ep out in July....good to have something to look forward to : )

Many thanks Cro Morgan for all these recommendations, you've placed a lot of promising movies on my to-watch list!
Let me make two "Monday's Obscure Movie Recommendation"®©TM -style recommendations  :

Down By Law (1986)

Image

A great film and my favourite one from Jarmusch, it is about three convicts in a dirty New Orleans prison, who can't stand each other. The film has great atmosphere due to the black-white photography and is more of a dark comedy.
With Tom Waits,John Lurie and Roberto Benigni.Great music as well by Waits and Lurie.

Bad Lieutenant (1992)

Image

Harvey Keitel is a dirty drug-addict cop living on the edge, tormented by his passions.Nevermind the storyline and the plot-this film is all about down and dirty badassness and Keitel's performance is amazingly powerful. 18+

Oh yes. It's a little more adult orientated than other fantasy stuff. Read the books?

Sorry but Game of thrones is just sex.

Dexter is king.

The goon was a good laugh.

Hmmm...next weekend I'm going to see Think Like A Man and The Three Stooges. I'm into a lot of indie stuff as well. My favorite genre is horror. I recently went to a Horror Convention here in Nashville and saw Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) and Kristen Bauer (True Blood) also Camille Keaton (I Spit On Your Grave)

Actually, it's not. HBO just decided to glorify the sex and violence from the books. :P

If you look past that, it is awesome.

Saw 21 jump street yesterday it was actually really funny. Recomend it.

Also gonna see the Avengers later, not a huge comic fan but I hear it's a good movie.

Another thing this new show Awake looks rather decent.
