I despair against Powerplayers

Postby Daxter1975 » Sat, 07 Apr 2012 07:16

I have a big Problem.

I can not win against Powerplayers. (>90, 98 or 100 Power. especially Gallo and Babb as Coach).

I can try to hold my Service, but at the latest on Tiebreak i lost against every Powerplayer who can play his Char at WT.

Please help me. What must i do to beat this guys?

I play with a Setup:
0-15-5, with 92 FH & 60 BH and Jan Zajic as Coach.

I try to play slices, or long Balls, but 1 not perfect Ball from me, and they make 1 Powershot and after that i lost the Ralley every time, because it´s to fast for me.

What is the Tactic against hem in ralleys???

Thanks a lot....

Imo your 92 60 wings are a bit too lopsided, decent players will exploit your weak BH and try to pin you into a corner. A 82 70 would be better I think.

High Power setups are the easiest ones to get 1-2 punched (serve, weak return, winner) because they lack speed, reflexes and return skills.

You should not "try and hold your serve", holding your serve is absolutely essential. But your Zajic only has 77 SRV 73 PWR so your serve isn't a strong weapon. Furthermore, the skill Passing Shot Sniper is useless against a pure baseliner. Keep them running, your shots must have good length and precision.

The best tactic against these guys is to get into a tie break and somehow win some mini-breaks while holding your serve at all costs. The fact that like 50% of these clowns are serving wide doesn't make it any easier either.

In my opinion the best is red speed + deep control shots.

90% these power players mainly in WT only do power flat shots (Makes the game too predictable.

To me is easy to beat power guys. I have more difficulty against good defensers or balance OFB like Rabari - Neuwirth.

I agree with the point about a 60BH, not easy to use against 98/98 or 100 power.
Completely untrue, those stats are more than enough for a strong service game. Fatality also makes it easy to 1-2 punch.

Zajic isn't a user friendly coach but in capable hands it's a top tier coach.
It's my most used coach since I joined ITST.

I agree with Sho

If you have ever played Tiger's Zajic you soon realise he is very good in the right hands

Yes and that is one of the many reasons why all these power settings are overpowered and unbalanced. If you play without power <80 you need to hit every ball with good or perfect timing. Otherwise you will lose the point. On the other hand your opp who uses power can hit bad timed shots and still have enough power to hit winners or not to get in trouble during a rally.

Use speed >75, good FH/BH ~80 and control shots. Thats the best way to play and win against those guys.

After the last TS4 update guys can overpower you easily. Thats why you need to use control shots for hard and deep shots.

I have one question when i play against these guys and they shot balls, which i didn´t can´t see....
if the Programmers of Topspin played this game one time???

I can´t believe that they played against these players and say "ohhh, that is not to fast, that´s okay and realistic that a opponent can fire 20 minutes every ball with full power. and when the stamina goes down... he fired again, and again....."

Right now I play with 52 fh 75 bh 66 serve 58 power 83 stamina 81 speed...

Diesel returner and Fatality.

I loose against players of course but most of the power players I beat, I beat them with countershots/ control shots.
And getting hate mail afterwards.
The whole WT is full of powerhitters like in all TS series.

Yep and i still do not understand why 2k Sports do not balance or scrap these settings. Right now 90 % of all my opponents are overpowered monsters who only do outwide services. I still can win 99% of all these matches but its frustrating to play against those guys. Cause i know they are one trick ponys who only learned how to serve but overall 95% of these players suck as hell. Without serve >90 and power >90 they would lose easily against me.Just one trick ponys.....

The 2K games always been big cheesy fest games. The more cheese possible the least realistic the game will be.

They made a huge mistakes with making the game so pick up and play...

It seems like every odd numbered TS game is better than the even numbered - 1 and 3 were better than 2 and 4.... hopefully 5 will be good again.

They don't play fair and neither should you!! Cheese the hell out of them with short crosscourt control shots (you need high wings!!) and deep topspin shots.

All those power players have the speed of Cee Lo Green in a muddy field so make 'm run at all cost!!!

Don't really agree with that. Actually it helps me not to cheese. Keeping focused on playing normal. And really hate cheesing actually :-)

Didn't like 90% of all players in TS3 use maxed power players? 200 wings, 100 serve, 100 power. Because you could distribute your points freely.

The player creator and the soundtrack were much better though.
