the welch thing is so exaggerated, i havent used him since ps3 australian open, and i have played 5 welch players on xbox since not using welch and won 4 of those in straight sets and the only one i lost was to Sh0Case.. The other players were good, and hit excellent shots but they still recieved the beating. As positioning, movement, shot anticpation and shot-making in adherse situations is more important than hitting good shots all the time, i think most people who complain about welch, give up as soon as they enter a match and see the two red wings. Just play your game, and if you are better than the other player you will win.

Hi, I'm just an average player, and have just recently improved enough to compete with some of the players here and win some. But in matches against Welch players, I can get into a point and create some opportunities, but it's very difficult to put them away even when you are in control of the point, because their movement is so good and high wings let them consistently get balls back deep--even from a bad position--until they get an opportunity to rip one short cross court, upon which you will nearly always end up losing the point unless they play a bad shot.

I use Babb and Neuwirth, and if a Welch players gets a deep return against my Babb it's very hard to win a rally against him, unless he plays a poor shot that lands short, because once they get a chance to hit a short cross court shot, a slow player like Babb, will lose that point 8/10 times, even if they're playing their best. This would be OK, if power shots actually forced a short reply, but they rarely do on this game.

With Neuwirth I can compete in rallies and win some points. But if the Welch player is playing their best, it's a hopeless cause (at least for me lol.)

No, on ps3 tour you have welches who only play short cross entire match..

I refuse to play a match against these type of players, I play this game for fun there is no fun in a match like that...

Take my last match, I just quitted a match against Firderis after 4 games, 3-1 behind, every ball goes short cross.. Yes perhaps they are beatable I can beat him but this is not why I play a video game..

Sadly I have to say I'm gonna quit itst after my tournaments untilll Welch is banned, I just had enough of it. Every tournament my motivation gets ruined because I meet a Welch player. If people here think Welch is a good and fair setup, let them think it, but I don't have any need in playing welch anymore.

It is totally unfair.

I don't like the attitude from some people here towards players using welsh. he isn't banned yet and as long as your opponent does not play cheesy, show a little bit more respect! at some points, the debate is too personal without being based on facts. quitting matches isn't very respectful towards an opponent playing according to the rules. if you don't like facing welsh, stop playing the tournaments until he will be banned.

to answer your questions:

1. Your oppinion about Welch:

In fact I changed to Welsh about 3 months ago because I was tired of losing against him. I used Rabari since TS4 was released and just couldn't find any weapon against a good Welsh (likos, tigerofintegrity), this was before the patch.

I think he is tough to beat, tougher than the other coaches. but I wouldn't call him cheesy. why?

playing welsh (and sim-tour) helped me to master controlshots.
before using him I mastered only Rabaris powershots.
these two coaches gave me a lot of experience about when to use control- or powershots. an experience I could only make by playing welsh.

Welsh from the view of Rabari:

Welsh is beatable by a Rabari, if you know the right time to play power- and controlshots. further, your service must be good, in order to keep some points short to save stamina. people complain about the crossflats by welsh, but in fact it's the only weapon of welsh, so why not anticipating them better? dennie, in our itst-match you anticipated many of my shots and so you could destroy me.
of course, you must be concentrated 100% when facing welsh, because rabaris gameplay is not as forgiving as welsh is.
last thing I want to say is: many players here have lost the match before they even played it when they see their opponent using welsh.

ban him or not?

like zooloo, I think banning welsh means a powerplayer-dominance for the tour. second thing is slavina which you could use instead of welsh, never played her, but I guess she's almost on the same level then welsh. how would you solve this?

2. Your season record against Welch

four losses (godzin, poumadoro, murmeltier), but I was using welsh too, so this was because they were playing better.

3. Your season record against other coaches

one loss to neuwirth, one loss to rabari, and a "almost-loss" to ali-iqb's rabari, I was just luckier.

I don't think the Welch thing is over exagerated Fifa Tee. The whole Welch thing isn't an issue for you (or Sh0) because you 2 are just amazing players  . But for average players, like myself, and 95% of ITST, playing against Welch is just a nightmare.

I've played sebastianhu in practice matches, him using Welch and me not using Welch and he beats me 6-0. In our recent ITST match I decided to use Welch against him. I still lost but it was 7-5 6-4, only single breaks in each set. Which is not bad considering he always plays with Welch and that was my first match with him. I hate playing with Welch but I didn't want the embarrassment of losing 6-0 6-0.

I don't know how many of my losses have been to Welch but my last 2 matches have been.

I'm 100% for banning Welch. I don't look forward to playing people that use Welch and at the end of the day it's a game and games are supposed to be fun. I can play players like Fifa Tee, who doesn't use Welch, and lose 6-0 but at least I enjoy the match...I can just accept I lost to the (much!) better player. When you get beat by a Welch player, you just feel cheated.

Annnnyway, that's just my opinion on it.

(I'm sorry for my bad English)

I agree with all Tamthewasp said. Welch makes you become better. Especially :
Welch is unfair because it makes good players great and great players excellent
and
The lack of power is an advantage and can still hit extremelly strong control shots.

I played a match versus Godzin I lost something like 6/3 7/5. A few hours later we played a friendly match and he used Welch. Score ? 6/0. Welch is too good. He's weakness is fake. For me Welch can play power and control shots at the same time when you know how to control him.

I always used Rabari since the beginning (tried Welch to see how good he is) and I can say that the best Rabari can't win against the best Welch. Why ? The main reason is that when you miss a perfect shot with Rabari you play more on the center of the court so you're exposed (his defence is too bad). When you miss a perfect shot with Welch, you play on the line without full power. Welch hides the real skills of a player. He allows you to win even if you play bad or if you're not in a good day.

Since I am on the tour I don't understand why he's allowed whereas Monster defence is banned. For me it's the same. When I am in a very good position with my Rabari, I try to make Welch running from right to left... If the player is good (not excellent) in one shot he can return the point and easily finishes you.

As I said after loosing against Sh0case, while Welch is not banned people will leave ITST or all makes their own Welch. ITST will become a Welch Tour.

To answer the topic questions :

My season record against Welch : 1W/5L (the win is when I decided to use a Welch too)

My season record against other coaches : 10W/2L

I won't say that I would have won if my opponents wouldn't have played with Welch. But I would have had a chance to win. If you don't trust me check the videos of matches between Sh0case and Fabada. You never feel that Fabada can win (Fabada : best Rabari and Sh0case : best Welch on PS3 tour)

At the end of the day, Fabada was beasting welch players until i beat him, he didnt complain, he just knew how to exploit their weaknesses and is a general beast at overpowering welch. Dennie you seem really weakhearted, like you want everything to be easy to suit the way you want to play and if you find it hard to counter act things, you just give up without trying to find a solution or trying to work on your own game to beat welch players. Also.. im sure you used to use welch, i remember seeing it in an old topic, where were these complaints when you used welch?

Welch has some very annoying shots. They play Short crosses while attacking and high moon balls while on defense.. That's what most of the welch guys do. And if you manage to get control of the point then their high speed will bring them back in point.. Their slow service is already a weapon. And still even if they like then they can serve at 193km/h. 5 out of 7 losses against welch this year.

I don't have a lot of matches this year, because of the welsh problem. I was sent out of all my last four regular tour tournaments by a Welsh player, therefore leaving all tours in protest against this setup.

Last nine matches(10th match was a walkover) both sim and reg:

Welsh 0-4
Others: 4-1

Had a very long 5-setter against Alex-4487 in AO MSS, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. That's the only loss against a non-welsh player I've had the last 9 matches.

Also played a great one-set-match against BOB-L-EPONGE-06 yesterday night! I used Neuwirth and he used Gallo. Blistering tempo and could really had gone either way. We both held our serves the entire set and I was able to grab the win in the tie-breaker 7-5. Very intense and fun match which was very very close. It's just so great to experience how fantastic this game is when you're using equal coaches/close leveled coaches!

Welsh is just ruining the tennis experience in this game. Impossible shots just about all the time as a result of a highly unrealistic setup. I used Neuwirth with 88/58 wings against BoB, and you really have to work hard on that low backhand to keep up. It can rarely be used as a direct weapon and you therefore have to work your way through the points to get to use your huge forehand to close the deal. The only way I see Welsh still competing in the tour would have to be with level 18 player and realistically speaking one superb wing and one good wing(all three bonuses focused on one wing(either 89/74 or 74/89)). With 74 wing you still have a very decent weapon, however you have to time your shots really well and there's a bigger chance of misfiring/getting slow, bad placed shots.

Slavina seems to be a more realistic DB setup with her defensive skills instead of mini-MD and drop shot jedi.

Is it not the problem with every setup when you go for the max? I mean, 20 levels defense or offense or volley? No matter what you choose it always be a extreme player. And with the great players here they will never be beaten by a normal player (like me). Personally, I don't care what kind of player I have to play on ITST or WT. I think that a lot of players can't play just a game for fun and when it look's like they going to loose they start cheesy playing. I never play the same player for months in a row, where is the fun in that?
And it's true when you play the extreme setup player you win more games. But against a good player..........you still loose :D

LOL.... please don't talk about things you don't know... I used to play with welch?? Yes. In the beginning of TS before any update was there, back then it was a whole different game. It's about 6 months ago at least!

And no, I'm not the type of guy who wants things the easy way. I do ask for enjoyment. I don't play this game only to win, like alot of Welch people do. I don't play the game to end up playing a short crosser the entire match. I don't like that. And why should I play things I don't like? If I was weakhearted I would've quit before. I annoyed myself till death many times about Welch, but always give it another shot. I can not concentrate against people who play the game with welch only because they cannot compete with normal setups, short cross short cross short cross all day long and it ruins every joy the game has. If you are a type of guy who likes to judge without knowing do you're thing man I won't judge you, but don't talk this kind of crap please. I have no need in finding a solution for something which is so annoying, I rather not play because I play for fun.

Perhaps I will gain new motivation in a while, but for now there is absolutely no need for me to play Welch anymore.

Doesn't mean I don't want to help here anymore, if people like to prove why Welch doesn't belong on tour they should just send me a pm, altough I doubt there is anyone who wants to invest there own time for this.

This is exactly my point. It ruines my motivation to keep competing on tour. Less skilled players just have to take Welch and abuse short cross shots and a new top player is born.

Like I saw Loki say once,

"If you want to be good, just take Welch and learn to abuse his control shots."

For me dont make sense ban Welch and dont ban Gallo, Babb, Neuwirth, Rabari and Slavina.

If u only ban welch, in 3 months, there will be a topics with ''ban neuwirth''
''ban babb''.

Or ban all these goods setups, or dont ban anybody

Is just my opinion

I don't care to play Gallo, or babb (exept when ppl try to cheese by using 98 power, but still even that is alot better then playing Welch), or neuwirth, or rabari, or slavina, only Welch for the reasons I mentioned. So no I don't think this will happen.
