Rioja is good. Also fond of Garnacha.

Rioja is the region.

Garnacha is a type grape.

BTW - the do grow Garnacha in Rioja so it is understandable why you like both. Although Tempranillo is the more dominant grape in the region.

Agree! Most of rioja wines uses garnacha and/or tempranillo. Cabernet Souvignon is forbiden in La Rioja, with only one exception: Marques de Riscal

well my every day wine is 4-6 euros bottle, no more than that. I'm not an expert so i can not feel the difference between a 4 euros wine and a 20 euros one.
mmm let me see....right now i have just 5, all of them red

El Coto crianza 2007 (tempranillo)
Coto de Imaz reserva 2005 (tempranillo)
and 3 bottles of Jose Luis Ferrer Autèntic, red, from Binissalem (Mallorca)

I'm gonna be honest with you guys most of the times, i buy based on price, sad but true, i do know i don't wanna spend more than 6-7 euros (max), so the best label wins hahaha
Process: I go to do the shopping, i get to the wines, i start checking the 500 wines (rioja, riber del duero blabla) walk through all the corridors, i look at the wines like an expert, hahaha, but with no idea about it, and i end getting a good looking bottle that fits my budget :D

Just to precise :

Tamthewasp wrote:... it was a chatteuneuf de paux (borduex area) ...

I guess you meant Chateauneuf Du Pape... From the Bordeaux area...

ELTXETXU wrote:...Cabernet Souvignon is forbiden...

It's Cabernet Sauvignon...

/End of grammar-nazi mode... :D

I prefer red wine... By far ! I just don't like Rosée, white is fine for me with fishes...
I don't know how good can be Spanish or US* wines  , but I would say French wine FTW ! 8)

* Don't you have areas in California where they imported french "lands" ? ^^

Are most of them not your own, no? :P

Anyway, I do enjoy some wine, though I have never really bought any meself, so I wouldn't know which ones I enjoy. Mainly because I am a student and have no money(kinda) and that I don't really eat anything worth having wine for.

But I enjoy it when I go to my gran's or whatever, and she has some wine(usually French) to have with dinner.

Well I like tempranillo as well :p

Occasionally fond of a Chilean Cab Sauv or Merlot.
Merlots in general are one of my favourites.

One of the best wines I ever had was this:

I'll occasionally enjoy a Portuguese red, like this:

And occasionally will indulge in champagne if the occasion calls (although the taste doesn't often live up to the price):

(Yes, I take a lot of pictures of wine I drink :P )

Just trying out an australian rose. Yellow tail. I'd post picks but I can't.

Jesus Djarvik. I could never have that amount of bottles at once, the temptation 2 drink would be 2 great.

Yes my chatteunuef was spelt wrong but y'all know what I meant.

very much of a wine lover here ... I love reds, but if I'm dining a spicy fish I love a good green red wine (yep green red wine or as we say it in portuguese Vinho Verde Tinto - only a couple of places in Portugal can produce regulated marketed Vinho Verde, most of it is inexpensive and a little sparkly which is quite refreshing ... I don't like regular Green Wine though and I'm not a big fan of whites, although I recognize that Portugal produces some great whites) ... from the local bunch there's a few houses I pretty much like most of their wines, like Casa Ermelinda in Setúbal (everything from the cheapest 3 euro bottle to the Vintage stuff is amazing) and regionwise the Douro Valley reds are greats ... if it's in a meal and I'm eating something a bit spicy (that's not fish - like chouriço, pork meat or such) I'll go with Alentejo strong red wines ... put emphasis on very oaky on that ...

as 90% of portuguese wine sells itself on it's market I don't know a lot of foreigner wines asides the obvious regions from La Rioja, Bordeaux and Argentine and Chilean wines ... from what I've tasted usually foreign wines are more modern and ligther and portuguese tend to be stronger and more "classic" ... all good though!
