Wine

Postby Tamthewasp » Sun, 19 Feb 2012 01:31

So all you ITST peeps that are old enough and have a little knowledge of el vino.

What is your favourite wine?

Personally I like a nice rose(white zinfandel). I do get a lot of abuse of my mates, apparently men should'nt drink ROSE.

I spend around £8 on a bottle, 15-20 dollars. Thats not much but 3-4 bottles add up.

I do like a merlot and a cabernet.

Most I spent on a bottle of wine was £50 I think it was a chatteuneuf de paux (borduex area) was very sweet and very tasty.

I always prefer WHITE! The main reason, is that i like cold wine, and if you drink a good red wine cold, here in Spain, is like a sacrilege. I like red too, and ROSE, but your mates are right, it isn't very masculine! :D

Here a good ROSE or WHITE costs around 5 or 6€ and a good red wine bottle 8 or 10€. But for 2€ you can buy a decent bottle of wine. Of course, if you want, you can spend 300€ in a Vega Sicilia. Personally i've never paid more than 30€ for one bottle. It was an excellent red wine bottle of, Marques de Riscal (Rioja 2003)

But, if you really ask me what i prefer i have to say ONE COLD BEER!!! :D

My favourites whites are: RUEDA and ALBARIÑO, both from Spain. And VINO VERDE (Green wine), from Portugal

How is that a rubbish answer? It may not be what some people consider to be "fine" wine, but I'll never let anyone tell me what is supposed to taste good, and what isn't. I frequently buy wine for about $5 a bottle - I like it, and I don't give a shit what anyone else says.

I don't mind a sweet white wine or rose, and a fruiter red. I dislike the very dry whites, its like drinking powdered bone.

The best wine comes in a cardboard box. Lots of it for a small amount of cash.

Okay, granted, the first swig tastes like crap, but the ensuing 247 swigs are wonderful. :P

Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

I meant the answer lacked information. Nothing to do with it being cheap wine.

I am a big wine lover. This is the only thing I drink (alcohol) in the past 10 years. It is hard for me to isolate favorites. I guess California Cab done right is probably the best wine for me. It is too easy to mess them up thou, they usually overdo them. I like Spanish wines as well. Gigondas and Riojas.

Your question of Red, White or Rose is kinda out there. There are wines in each category that are stellar. It all depends what I eat that evening. I like to pair my wines more then anything. If I want a sipping wine I will go for a good 30 or 40 year old Port or a good vintage port. Ice wine and Rieslings from Germany make a good sipping wines as well.

I have a small wine collection as well. My 250 bottle cellar is almost full :P
