SIM

Postby DennieFR1908 » Fri, 20 Jan 2012 13:47

Noticed the sim tour is no succes, less and less players play sim tour nowadays.. maybe it's a good idea to renovate this.. make new setups with higher stats and keep it balanced so everyone can choose his own style? The idea of sim was to simulate real life tennis, well, this failed it's no fun at all and even less realistic as regular tour (if you ask me). I'm sure SIM can be made much more interesting..

Agreed.. That's why I no longer play sim tour.. Matches are toooooo slow.. I can't get winners.. I like to play offensively by serving big and going for winners.. I have tried alot but failed to accomplish it in sim tour.. I think stats should be increased to get the game faster.. Sim tour resembles 1970s tennis when players had slow rackets and the game was slow then.. On the other hand reg tour displays more realism as the game is fast with powerful control and power shots along with powerful serves just like present day tennis

I agree with this , TS3 was very "sim" able as there was much more scope to do things in terms of simming it , but TS4 is not very sim friendly as imo the game isnt that realistic anyways and Sim sorta makes it feel even more one dimensional than it is on regular

The sim tour , it s good idea but the all players play this only 4 caracthers. Fortis nakamura bashmakov and lopez, it s big problem...

I propose for exemple a new conditions:
- all wings Max 150.
- power Max 90.
- min 2 attributs on volley, 2 on off and 2 on baseline

And the players choice 1 Silver coachs.
All players create the personnal sim.
It s very easy, isn't it?

That is not entirely true. The idea is to also make a "different" tour with a "different" experience.

I do agree with Andy, TS4 is just a very limited game. There is very little freedom when it comes down to game play, it really is a shadow of TS3, and the SIM tour exposes this the most.

That said, I still feel the SIM tour is a success. It gives a different experience from the regular tour, thus accomplishing the agenda of an alternative tour. Granted, maybe not to everyone's taste. I do wish more players would be more concerned with creating interesting match-ups and overcoming adversities - rather then take the easy route of picking the most effective player. Especially so if you winning matches easy.

In TS3 I always used about 3 players: one for my tough matches, one for my matches where I thought I am a favorite to win and one for the matches I was sure to win. This way, most of my matches end up being close and I never lost interest as each time I had a different style to deal with. Just a thought.

But wouldnt it be better if it WAS for everyone's taste? Everyone here on the site are here because they actually like to play here. It should be possible to attract more than 50% of the players for a sim tour if everyone would like this tour too. More players would be satiftied. After all it's more important what the players of this site thinks rather than you expecting players will pick less efective setups, and 3 setups are more powerfull than others. Besides like Ali and Andy are saying the gameplay is way to slow and one dimensional, it looks like 70s tennis indeed. It's just not fun enough for (to) much players. Change shouldn't be excluded.

And if u only could use one player one amount of times per season?

Or if some player are prohibited in some tournaments (like fortis or nakamura)

I really love sim and consider it much more fun than regular! You can go to the net much more, you can slice much more and mix it up a lot. Feels much more real to me than reg. You have to be patience and play with strategy . (only my opinion)

Looking forward to see this new player¡

now in grandslams sim imagine a 5 setter match... who can play such a match for 3 hours in front of the tv comparing the slowness of the matches in the sim tour... the ts3 sim was still fast as we were able to finsih the point using risk shots... but in top spin 4 slow sim matches gets too boring and frustrating

Agree with you!

Also agree with you (and Alex) that there a few SIM Players being stronger than others (Fortis and Nakamura being two of them), but nowhere near as much better than the three or four setups used in REG Tour compared to other setups.

A top player on the SIM Tour being on fire can win points (and thus sets or even matches) quickly. My longest three-setter (going the distance with a tie breaker) took less than 90 minutes, could be even faster against players with a different style (for example against corrbuster points end quickly).

I had to lift my game to another level in order to be able to finish points on the SIM Tour, it was my biggest weakness. One can work on that.

Djarvik is completely on the money. The fault is more within the game than the SIM tour itself. The gameplay itself has become much more stripped down and limited to where SIM is almost not possible. Also the stats have a lot of problems that hinder the idea as well. The fact that speed is not rewarding enough to make a weak, but fast player... or not enough a handicap to make a powerful but slow player holds the builds back from reaching their fullest potential. Not to mention the fact that guys can volley like Zizou in TS3 using a 50 volley stat doesn't help.
Norberto H or bust.

This is exactly what I think. You need much more variety and a stratetic game plan to win a match on top level as you don't have thath deciding strengths like welsh's angles, rabaris powershots or kellys volleys which allow you to easily make a point.
