Ban Welsh

Postby Ary1g » Sat, 07 Jan 2012 14:28

:x Simple and easy. It's no fun when the only chance to beat Welsh is to use Welsh yourself. I want him banned. I don't care if Rabari will be the one at the top. Much more fun to play against Rabari than Welsh. Welsh is just way too overpowered and totally unrealistic. No player should have such good wings. It's just lame really.

People here are saying he's the only build to beat Rabari. I don't care. Rabari is a difficult build to meet, but at least you feel like you have a chance of beating it. I'm using Grody for the record. He's a solid and fun coach to use, though he doesn't stand a chance against Welsh, absolutely no chance at all. It can handle Rabari and Neuwirth, but Welsh is just too insane.

If he's not banned, I'm retiring from this site permanent. Even more fun to play world tour(!)than spending time organizing matches to participate in these tournaments knowing that you have no chance at all if you meet someone using Welsh. Anyway, I'm done with this. If he's not banned, AO will be my last tournament. I'm going to have a Welsh build ready for it though. So I can use it if I suspect meeting a Welsh build. Don't bother writing any replies to me, I won't be answering anyone. Just vote or leave this thread. People can mock me as much as they want. I really couldn't care less about it. So if you want to waste your time, go ahead. I'm done wasting mine on this site.

:x

Hey Ari! In my opinion its not the coach you use that will determine if a player will win or not! I think that there are great players here in itst that are impossible to beat or win a point or hit only a winner! They are just excellent players thats it! Those players will beat anybody with any stats! I saw that you played poumadoro and couldnt win a game. I think that he is one of the best players here and with pretty good results, including beating Likos the number 1! I really dont think that banning Welsh will solve anything. But i understand what you are saying, and im feelling the same way against some players that there is no fun at all playing them, cause its almost impossible to do something against them ,cause they are just too good!

I don't think it's necessary. Welch's lack of power and serve are a handicap in most players' hands. I could probably beat 9 out of 10 players using Welch if I picked any of my setups. The only players that thrive with Welch are the players with exceptional timing in control shots and the ones that can compensate for the lack of service and power.

I think Rabari's easy to beat too with some unfortunate exceptions.

Babarabari is easy to beat. Welsh is not in good hands.
Murmeltiers welch is a BEAST. Fabadas babarabi is a BEAST. So its the person not the coach. MD makes the player better hence banned.

Pretty much agreed but I don't think that's limited to those two coaches. I think if you put the right set of skills and/or the right ratings in the hands of the right player they could be more deadly than either of those two.

to be honest, welch is not overpowered in the hands of the average player. if someone was to pick 100 power, they could hit too lates all match and give you a hard match, if someone picks welch and isnt good at the game, they will hit terrible shots. hence why the only top welch players were loki and dapery who had excellent timing. if you wanted to ban welch, you would have to ban gallo and babb.

A little unexpectedly, I wasn't being lolled at and thrown shit at :) Therefore I'm going to answer as many as possible. Some will be answered now, some will be later. Hope you read through it all, even though it's very much to read.

Eriera: Following your view, I should be able to beat anyone with a unleveled player... well... obviously not going to happen. Neither is it going to happen, if the top 10 were playing with unleveled players. Of course, you may be talking about if two different players were using the exact same build. Say both are using unleveled players. Only that way, we would be able to determine who's the greater player, considering all the different playstyles and stats bonuses given by certain coaches. Sadly, not going to happen either.

ILuvBillVal: You say he lacks power(?!). It seems to me that the game doesn't differentiate any good on very low stats and very high stats. With Welsh for example. You can hit ridiculous insane powered insane angled shots which are impossible to counter and you can also hit slow, but deadly accurate serves hitting the line. Poumodoro just showed me that. Which is just another reason to ban Welsh. You shouldn't be able to hit the lines with 4 out of 5 serves with a 40- 60 serve stat! It's obviously a mistake in the game engine. Which these top guys using Welsh is taking advantage of. So why are we having this coach in the tour, when he by far obviously is a coach created with the arcade function of the fun of having insane wings? Which the developers did make with great "weaknesses" in theory, while those "weaknesses" aren't really present at all in practice. If the stats was totally correct, Welsh shouldn't be able to hit any of those insane angled and superpowered control shot winners. Which by the way, is way to easy to perform. I can do those with a 80/70 wings, just much less frequent than with 90/90 or 86/86. My goal with being on this site is to become number one! With todays situation, the only chance of getting near that, is to play with Welsh..

Tamthewasp: Rabari, Welsh, Rabari, Welsh, Rabari, Welsh, Rabari, Welsh..... We all know they are better than the rest if controlled by someone special. Why are we still having them in the tour? There are perfectly good silver coaches that are almost mirror images of those two, though clipped the arcade edge their golden brothers have. Just for people's information I'm putting up stats of both silver coaches against both gold coaches to see.

I know Welsh and Nagano is quite different concerning speed, but I think Nagano would be a much more balanced coach in the tour than Welsh.

All examples has bonuses equally divided on both wings.

Welsh, 2-0-18:
86/86 wings (15+ both wings)
58 serve
40 volley
63 power
88 stamina
79 speed
50 reflexes

Drop shot artist
Smell of blood (MD on break points, game points, and match points)

Now his silver brother:
Kensuke Nagano 0-12-8

81/81 wings (12+ both wings)
66 serve
39 volley
79 power
82 stamina
60 speed
47 reflexes

Highly flammable

Over to Rabari, who has a strikingly similar brother.

Rabari, 0-15-5:

75/80 wings
75 serve
38 volley
86 power
84 stamina
54 speed
53 reflexes

Instant Rocket
Crushing Passing shot(Combined with IR: "Oh, you at the net? I'll just crush the ball so fast your player automatically tries to save himself or scratches his head. Any situation, no problem")

Now his silver TWIN:

Sotirios Eroglu, 0-15-5 (terrible name though):

70/80 wings
76 serve
38 volley
83 power
79 stamina
54 speed
50 reflexes

Instant Rocket

In my opinion, I don't think there's so much more to say. Rabari and Welsh could easily be swapped with these less powerful versions of themselves. There would probably not be to much changed around here, though some coaches like mine/Grody will get a chance in the tour. The top players would probably stay on top, though they would most likely have to work more than "usual" in all matches. Which I think is a good thing.

Fifa Tee: You're saying he's not overpowered in the hands of the average player, hence you're saying he's overpowered in the right hands. Here on ITST we have the right hands for Welsh, hence he becomes overpowered in those hands. Ergo, I will never ever have a living chance getting to the top with Grody here on ITST. The only way of doing that, is to use Welsh..

Babb and Gallo isn't anyway near Welsh overall imo.

Thank you for reading. :)

Will continue to answer people, however don't expect answers immediately. :)

Hmm, why dont you play the AO with Welsh-Welch ? im sure that if you win it or at least get to a final you will have a much stronger case.

But if you lose in the the QF or before you would have to admit that he isnt OP.

I understand what you're saying. However I won't be changing right before AO. Simply because I don't like playing with Welsh. I find it really boring and I don't find that type of tennis any satisfying at all. Also, I don't want to put in the extra hours of adjusting my game to Welsh before AO. I would rather hope to meet anyone not using Welsh and have a great time playing with my Grody build. Maybe after. That said, I will be using Welsh if my opponent is using him. Just to have a chance at all. Hope people here are decent enough to tell me what coach they'll use, or at all if they're going to use Welsh or not.

You can beat welsh, using any power character like gallo, neuwirth, rabary, or babb, but you need to be (play) better than your opponent. I saw that Fabada (rabary) beat Likos (welsh) in the ATP finals 6-1 6-1. So use Welsh isnt the only way to win against welsh.

However, if you have played agaisnt fabada, you can see that he makes the same and imposible angles using rabary, that the people who uses welsh (with more power). So the problem, as Tamethewasp said, isn't the coach, is the person and his perfect timing. The best 3 players on PS3 tour use different coaches: welsh, rabary and neuwirth.

Don't you guys ever get bored of having the same conversation like 1,000 times??

Some characters are just better than others that doesn't mean a game is bad.

There's no game in the history of games where every character is totally equally balanced and has an equal chance of winning.
