New Ranking system

The Race will begin from 0 as you want! We just have now an entry ranking to make the seedings...

Jeez, I really don't understand why you are moaning! You want the rankings to be reset to 0 points right? and that's what you'd be getting!!

The Entry Rank is used as a fair guidline for seedings for the new tournaments! Now you say its not fair because this could pit you against a good player and it will decrease your chances of obtaining a better rank? But I've said it before if your going to be ranked highley you have to beat some of the top players anyway! :!:

So I feel having both is a nice little addition which provides realistic seedings and extra statistics...

The ITST management has decided that the entry ranking will decide the seedings. We will keep the champions race as extra statistic. I believe that the entry ranking will quickly change and look more and more like the champions race ranking.

I don't think it'll make a big difference anyway. But what you just said, is a little off topic. It doesn't say wether or not we will defend or start again from zero.

I assume you say we will 'defend' points, otherwise having both rankings would be a little silly, since it wouldn't make a difference.

What he said is that the entry ranking(which will be used to determine the seedings) as it is now will stay. Pahel defends his 6000 points as the others. Only the champions race will start from the beginning.

Yes it makes complete sense to keep both rankings. The champions race will still be the "main ranking", we're not just keeping it for statistic reasons. The race will show how players are performing in th current season which is what counts most.

The entry ranking is a "continously running" ranking which doesnt get reset and therefore is suitable for determining seedings. That's the main reason for having the entry ranking.

Excellent, I think that makes the most sence.

As Aman says, I think the Champions Race can be considered as the "main" ranking source for the current season but having the continuous Entry Rank is a nice and sensible addition which is fair for seedings in the upcoming 2006 tournaments :P

I'm sure people who have doubts over this will think otherwise when the new season kicks off.

Well done and thanks to the ITST Management :D

I'm devinitely for defending points! It can bring more fun... You have a little pressure to do as well as the last year! And for those who started playing only on july for example, they won't have any points to defend untill July so that's not a problem for them, I think...
Ferrero is not finished...

Also, the system with counting only the best 18 tourneys will be applied to Women's and Doubles also from next season onwards. Like the ATP tour WTA tour also has 9 Masters Series (Tier I) tournaments so we can use the same system.
