Most of the current active players didn't play the entire season, way too many players decided to retire meanwhile, therefore it's gonna be a new tour, starting from zero, why not..

there are good reasons to have it & there are also good reasons not to.....

Like Pahel says, a number of the players have only joined the season part way through where others have left it.......so this is a good reason to leave it as is & everyone start from zero with no seeding position.......

BUT

there are quite a few players that have made big improvements over recent months & would therefore like to see those efforts rewarded in their seeding positions....so this is a good (& fair) reason to make the change......

Of course this isn't the ATP Tour, it's a virtual tour, so maybe some of you think we don't need to mirror things as closely as that here......

These are all reasonable points to consider I would say......

You could also argue that those that have made those improvements will get through without to much trouble anyway whatever their seeding is........but it does mean that there's the chance of 2 of the current top 10 having to face each other in round 1.........but others might say this is good & gives lower ranked players a better chance.......

hehe you see there are quite a few arguements for & against this change.....

Anyway I'll stop now coz my brain hurts! :P

I like that one! I'd consider it as boring if everything just goes its normal way, would be cool to hand a new chance to every player, since last years ranking (especially reg) is truly rusty! That's why starting from 0 would be fresh, some action!

Christ why making such a fuss, nobody is aware about how the whole thing's gonna develop....I pretty much agree with Al's aspects vs the race thing, I just mean it's not necessary and furthermore it will only refer to a very few guys performances 1 year ago!

I'd really say things have changed, tour isn't the same than 1 year ago, a new start is needed.

For my point of view I would appreciate that this season would begin from 0, because I wouldn't have a chance to reach a good rank if not, because I began playing last season too late. I think if this 2006 season would begin from 0,the ranking would be more representative because players who don't play anymore wouldn't be in this list, and new good players would have a chance to reach a good rank without being defavorized by the last season.

I agree with interista 100 % !!! I would like to start from zero because in this case all new players would have much more motivation for upcoming tournaments!!!

New Ranking System

Postby Ir0kuM4t4 » Mon, 12 Dec 2005 13:32

After the message I've received, I will tell that I think that the best, for me, it would be, the creation of an entry ranking, and to have the 2 ranking systems, the race an the entry ranking. First, because I would like to see some product of my work during all the year, and second, because when I began to play, the number 1 at the time had already lots of points and I went up to nr.4. Of course that it would be more hard to new players, to ascend in the entry ranking because now the Top 10 players have more points than at the begin of the year. But some players are leaving the ITST, so, they have chance...

New Ranking sytem

And, as the ITST tries to be like reality, the existence of 2 ranking systems would be more realistic too.

I think it is good to have 2 systems... the entry ranking and the race points
