New Racket Help?

New Racket Help?

Postby BananaPancaekz » Tue, 11 Oct 2011 20:12

Hey, i'm a tennis player around the 4.5 NTRP skill level and i'm currently using a Head Prestige MP, but i'm thinking about switching rackets. I would just demo some, but since it's my first year of college, i'm really low on money. Anyone play with a certain racket that they really like and they think I should check em out? I really like the Wilson BLX Six.One Tour.

Hi man

I've been using Head for quite a long time now, (Head Prestige Flexpoint in the past, and now i've got 2 Youtek Prestige MP), so my first question is , why?, just to try something new?
What's your play style?, play from the baseline? lot of spin?, flat?....

I just kind of wanna try something new, but i'm a baseliner that likes to be at the net to close out a point. I play with a little bit of topspin, I wanna be able to plow through the ball and hit deeper in the court, while still having the finesse I want at the net. The reason i'm asking for suggestions is because my last two head prestiges are broken so i'm getting new ones. I haven't decided on whether to get some more Prestiges or try something else.

Wilson and Head are both coming out with new racquets in the next few months - Wilson is replacing pretty much everything, and Head is replacing the Prestige and Radical.

This means you have a few options:

1: Wait for the new racquets, so you can get the latest.
2: If you want a Head, they will probably discount the current models soon.
3: If you want a Wilson, all of the current models are discounted now (the 6.1 and the Open series are all $40-50 less right now). Supplies are limited though - if a shop is out of them, they probably won't have any more this year.

great racquet, fits well my style, like BananaPancaekz i've been tempted to change many times and i've tested/bought many racquets, but i always finish hitting with my Prestiges again ( btw I still have the old Flexpoints)

Banana if you hit with lot of spin, i recommend you to stay with the 18x20 pattern string but i'd go for a 100sq inches head size racquet instead of 98

Off-topic, today is Spain's national day, so i'm not working, and i'm just back from sunbathing on the beach!!! hahaha (by mid october!!), it's 30 degrees in Mallorca!!, posting this just to make you envious
