Match Reports

Postby ILuvBillVal » Mon, 10 Oct 2011 20:47

Are people simply not filling them out? I haven't read a championship match report yet that's been more than a few lines about a good match. I always used to enjoy reading the post match interviews and things of that nature. What happened?

The ITST Team News has been a bit busy lately but the guys are on track again and articles will be up shortly

I know what you mean bill, it only takes a few minutes tops to write a half decent match report. I know (and Fedfan will vouch for me) that after a decent match I would write chapter and verse. Big matches like versus you or Norberto always warranted one!

The ones with simply "I win" always left me thirsty for me :?

As long as I've been here, I'm still surprised at how few people take the time to write anything.

If you beat someone 6-0, 6-0, I guess there's not much to say, but I've seen some really close matches with nothing.

Match reports are pretty sporadic. If people don't post them, even if we ask for feedback subsequently we don't always get much back.

If someone takes the time to give us lots of details we don't overlook them, but similarly if they do not then there really are only so many ways of saying player a beat player b.

I've always enjoyed the articles you guys write a lot. I don't always write a match report myself but if it's a big match, big upset or obviously a final I definitely would because ya never know what might spark a little creative genius from the News Staff. I think you guys all have your own unique writing styles too which I find pretty cool. I'll never forget the time fedfan said I was on drugs I was laughing my ass off.

BTW if this was sparked by my Thailand SIM report it has now been updated thanks to feedback from the winner, it makes a massive difference.

I wrote one for each of my first few matches on here but one of my opponents complained to me about it and said I don't need to say what happened. A few others weren't used in the eventual news article (final included) so I stopped writing them. I will write one everytime there's a story to tell.

Looks awesome fedfan... yeah I mean it's not always necessary. I like to try and do it as much as possible even if a bit just to let the host know when I really like the way a guy plays to help build his reputation and credibility and such. I think it's almost necessary for championships though because you almost always know it's going to get published right on the main page so you have to think that's your chance to take the stage and speak your mind.

don't ever be discouraged to write match reports. even if it's not a final, or a seemingly important match, there might be quotes or such we can take from it.
i mean, you already are a man of few words.
