Postby LokiSharpShootr » Wed, 14 Sep 2011 03:44

Yow whats up, i was bored and looking at the forums i see a lot of hate towards 98/98 so i wanted to ask your opinions about that.

I read somewhere that the hosts only steer the ship the direction is pointed by the members, so vote and maybe leave a comment, thanks.

I voted no.

Sure, it's annoying to play against, but I imagine the same is true in real life when you play Isner or Karlovic. Plus, it is certainly not the most powerful setup.

Same here, as long as tramline serving remains banned, which of course it will.

I don't have a problem with this setup either but honestly certain coaches allow countering it to be less difficult. I mean 98 power may as well be 100 and if you have 100 power your forehand and backhand (regardless of what the stats say) strokes will seem close to 90 or above. Then add 98 serve to this player and the fact that speed really plays not that big of a part in this game, actually you have maybe the strongest setup offered on TS4. So if this is fair, then should not every coach be available for members to use?

Plyrs like delpotro, karlovic, ivanesavic, riddick and others prove that high serve and hi pwr setups exist. Banning them wud be unrealistic. I agree with rob and also if one bans this one shud look into how poorly designed some serve n volley skills are in ts4. Plyrs with 90 or more on volley and reflexes..once at the net it is almost impossibl to pass them no matter wht one tries. Also during rallies they cum to the net 100% out of no whr hitting deep volleys that float slowly from no mans land and thn thy can reposition themselves in this time. In general the floating slow volleys are unreal nd u don't see this in real tennis.

yea but they don't hit every serve and ball that hard if the did theY would tear their shoulder out of it's socket . I mean look at nole, tsonga, berdych complaining about they shoulders that's due to how harder they hit the ball and the stress it puts on thier body

the 90 volley and reflex is a responses to the totally unrealistic 98 power 98 serve if people didnt go 98 power and 98 serve that would not happen beside how many people actually serve volley in this game anyways we are probably in the minority anyways if you go on the WT you dont find them that often anymore.

so is really needed is for a stat regulation for both sides serve and power abusers and 90 volley plus abusers although michael kelly with 18/2 gives you 94 volley so if could up for debate whether of not is should be banned. if you want to stop the abuse of both setups then dont encourage it you since ts4 came out the has been a mentality to abuse the flaws in this game.

and it has spread throughout the tour all of you using 98 SERVE AND 98 POWER YOUR THE ONES TO BLAME TO BLAME FOR THE VOLLEY ABUSERS BUT YOU ENCOURAGE THAT MENTALITY 'LETS USE OVERPOWERED SETUPS' if you want them to stop you stop you cant have it both ways. this setup needs to be banned not because i can win against know i beat the setup quite often but to change the mentality towards setups and abuse of them

the problem with an extremely high power stat is:
- there is no real risk in hitting with a lot of power.
- the low speed stat, that automatically comes with it, does not matter (enough)

I don't mind that there are players like karlovic and isner that have a VERY good serve. It's just that in this game you can hit 140+ mph serve without missing. Roddick hasn't hit 140 in like forever

I can't keep up :? First, it was slow serves that were killing the game (Drew Welch players with no power but 90 wings). Now it is the opposite with big servers and power players that are killing it?! :? :?
I think now that we have a sim tour for TS4, there should be no limit on the regular tour for how high stats can be.
Personally, I think the most flawed set-up is S&V anyway. As already mentioned in this thread, it is waaay too overpowered. The net coverage they have is just too much and too forgiving. They can still hit accurate volleys completely out of position and off balance. It is so unrealistic.
Anyway, I think bottom line is that most, if not all set-ups are flawed to a degree. If we go changing one set-up, we'd have to start changing others too, and it would just be a never-ending cycle.

A lot of WT S&V players employ the good old "glitch return" tactic so that by the time you actually hit the ball, they are already waiting at the net to pick you off

then lets do it im happy to see changes mind you as long as they are fair for everyone the way things are now doesn't work for everyone.

and oh if SV is so overpowered why isn't it the dominant setup i played world tour yesterday for three straight hours and didn't even play one serve volleyer i think your problem much like everyone else's is that it was ineffective pre-patch,but that isn't the case now not to mention the culture of abuse and overpowered setups has spread to serve volleying.

the PJQ and power and serve abusers are to blame for that if they had not not done so other would not be encouraged to do the same with serve volley

The problem is not huge serve or power, yeah it exist in real life so you can't say its unreal but in this game, these guys can also run and return everything or hit non stop power shots without any stamina problem, which doesn't exist in real life, if it was only big serve , it was no problem..but the combination of unreal stuff make this setup a bit stupid and chessy.

I ttly agree with mack. Sim tour is the place if one thinks the main tour has too many flaws. Also if one bans diff setups I fear tht evyting vl converge to crushing pass instant rocket. No diversity. Avi

yes but with a 2/2/2 rule, ir/cps would be tuned down too. only setups that would be upgraded would be all rounders and since they are weak at the moment...
