Have you noticed how you don't have to explain the 98/98 setup problems to almost anyone who has a "Date Joined" earlier then 2011? Do you know why is that? Take a moment to analyze it.

WOW

what difference does 'join by date' make?

arvik, c'mon, that's really unfair to say to new players and new members.

if anything, their is too LITTLE power in this game. even with a huge power setup, it is still next to impossible to hit clean winners against someone with 97 speed and reach swings expert. if you watch the mens tour, what is the most used philosophy today? big serve, big forehand. john isner, andy roddick, etc.

Actually, if you look at, say, the top 5 players in the world, only one of them would fit that bill (Federer). The rest are either (mainly) defenders, counterpunchers or Murray (I don't want to say pusher because I will get flamed, but you get the idea   ).
So your argument is flawed to begin with.

Go on WT and try playing as a defensive character or a S&V against a 100 power player, and see how much fun / how realistic it is. They're certainly not unbeatable, but that's not the point.

that's like saying 'hey kid, just because you haven't been playing tennis since you were 12, you aren't allowed to hit the ball hard until you play enough matches,' even if your 18.

who cares if older itst members can't beat or get mad at newer players who use big setups to try and win points. not everyone knows how to execute control shots with relative ease when they are new players. and yet, itst promotes new members and trying to bring new people together here. why punish them for not being a hardcore veteran like some people who have been here since, oh, i don't know, like...

we're not talking about ranking. we're talking about playstyle.

u'r missing the point of my argument, again.

is it just me, or is their a slight air of entitlement in here...

oh, and btw, i've played wt with just about every playstyle against just about every playstyle, u wanna play sometime?

whats whit all this talking about 98/98 if 0 of the top 10 players on 360 or ps3 tour use them???

How can they be overpowered if no one that uses it is on the top? seems kinda weird to me.

People should be talking more about rabari which of the 3 top 10 players i´ve played the 3 used rabari, im not complaining at all i use a overpowered build too(Welch) im just saying if that 98/98 was so good why dont the best use it?

moral, hosts dont like power setup?? really, that's just about the worst comment i've ever heard on these boards. i started using a power setup months ago becuase djarvik used a power setup against me online. so how can you now say the hosts 'dont like power setups'. how is that realistic

i highly recommend you to calm down, use whatever you want, i don't give a shit, years ago maybe i cared about, now i'm too old for this crap.

WOW

what difference does 'join by date' make?

arvik, c'mon, that's really unfair to say to new players and new members.

The only reason I bring this up is because ITST is a community, a rather established one, that is based on its members. So when the core members, the ones that are here for years, the ones that support and help improve the site complain about new members - it is a problem for us. Philosophy on ITST to some degree is dictated by our member base, the core base. The players that will stay here for some time.

All the management and hosts do is steer the ship, but the forward motion is always provided by members. Some new members boarding the ship want it turned around completely.

The Join Date remark maybe harsh, but that is true. Most of the older members understand the philosophy of ITST, hence they are "older" members. They choose to stay because of the philosophy. A huge percentage of new members "get" the philosophy, some don't, wanting the change, accusing the management of various stuff.

Frankly, I don't think you are in position to make such accusations. My and other hosts contributions to this site over the years is enormous and your remarks of dismissing hosts and questioning their integrity when you been here merrily a few month is not only misplaced, but somewhat offensive.

As I said in the PM, I appreciate your effort in "catching" the players that cheat, but you need to do it within the system and not in rebellions way on the forum or via "witch hunting".

Think what you want, but when a guy that has been here for over 3 years gets accused of cheating without having prior complaints, by 3 new members that have been here a few month and have already accumulated a few complaints against themselves - I will have a reservation of validity of that accusation. Am I wrong for doing that? I don't think so. As I said, I filed that complain, his first and it will be addressed if it happens again.

Sorry for this little rant, but I am bit tired of players that are new to our community trying to dictate how it should operate.

I certainty don't want to offend any new members by this, not the intent at all. I do want to send a strong message to some of new members - before you demand change, understand what are you changing.

P.S. - personally, I don't like the 98/98 setups...but that is not for reasons that it is somehow unbeatable, it is most certainly not. It is for totally other reasons.

80 to 89 power is something that looks like the real players, the 98 perma bomb shots when it s not unreal power slices doesnt.

wow,

that

is

sad...

um... hrm... has uh.. wait a minute, when did ouimrberson join???

and just because i haven't officially 'joined' u'r little site here, doesn't mean that i haven't been following it and topspin since topspin1. so please, do not confuse me with some new person who just walked in and started a firefight.
either accept new playstyles and LEARN how to counter them WITHOUT glitch returning, or stop inviting new players to join itst.

u can't have it both ways

and did i say entitlement, oh, sorry, i meant elitism...

In any case stop bashing other playrs. And welcome back after ur retirement. Let us all pls stay proffesionl. The hosts work hard to mk sure things r fair. Right now forget th past and focus on next tournaments.

That's right. Sticking by the idealistic and integrous morals that founded and became the core of this site is indeed incredibly sad. If said philosophy, which is the main purpose of this place, turns your stomach inside out, then why exactly are you here? You must love having an inside out stomach.

and just because i haven't officially 'joined' u'r little site here... do not confuse me with some new person who just walked in

Not only do you contradict yourself completely but you've even just mentioned the main point yourself yet somehow still managed to miss it entirely. You just walked in to ITST, therefore you are new to ITST and obviously you don't understand ITST fully yet being so new. I didn't understand ITST when I first walked in but I get it a lot better now.

I don't think full on serve and power is exactly a 'new' playstyle. Pretty sure it's been around and been a problem in TS games on this site a little longer than how long it's been since you walked in here.

u can't have it both ways

Actually they can. It is their site after all.

and did i say entitlement, oh, sorry, i meant elitism...

What you call elitism, I would use a slightly different term to describe it. Common sense. Why in the world would anyone value the word of a completely new person, a stranger, over someone who has proven themselves for an extended period of time? If anything, if they were truly elitist, they would be excluding newcomers and only letting people in who they happened to meet online, get to like and privately invite here. Think about it

Hey I have an idea, why don't you all STFU and stop writing essays at each other over a stupid video game that sucks anyways.

I've an idea too. Why don't you stop reading all our essays about a stupid video game that sucks? Think of all the extra fee time you'd have. You could learn to scuba dive with all that made up time. :)
