France : 4 players who have top10 skills
Gasquet, Tsonga, Monfils, Simon.

wait you all 3 are french   , France is a very strong team.
If Nadal doesn't play France is stronger, on the other hand if Nadal plays then Spain is stronger because the semis will be played on clay, so in theory we already have 2 points there, it would be a surprise if he plays the Davis Cup and can't get his 2 points playing on clay in Spain, i guess nobody can say the opposite .
When are they playing the semis?

Even with Nadal we have great chances.

Spain's double sux in comparaison of ours (Llodra is top5 world in double, and tsonga/gasquet are good too in double).
Ferrer always looses against french (twice against Monfils, on hard and clay court ; 3 straight sets against Tsonga @ Wimbledon).

Spain had no chance. And last year, if Tsonga weren't injured, we would have won easily the final against Serbia...

I would say Spain or France. I belive Tsonga will be a different player off the grass in the Semis because I do believe the semis are on clay. If Nadal plays I have to go with Spain!

Spain just won the Davis Cup again, but i wanna congratulate Del Poto, the guy is definitely back, he played 2 super matches against Ferrer yeterday, and Nadal today, no doubt he will be one of the 5 best players in 2012.

How would you rate the Davis Cup in "importance" for a tennis player or in "quality" compared to other tournaments or woman tennis?
Is it a great thing because it's diffrent and full of quality or is it more like "it's something diffrent but.. there are many better tournaments" or "the Davis Cup was better back in the 80ies/90ies"?

In my opinion tennis is an individual sports and there's no place for this kind of competitions. Winning the Davis Cup is not a big deal nowadays, i bet many players would rather win 1 GS than 3-4 Davis Cup with his country.
Do you get points? no
Do you get money? no

Nobody pays attention to that, when you compare Nadal and Federer, for example, nobody speaks about the Davis Cup titles, well yep it shows which country is the strongest..so what?! who cares??!!....you really have to love your country to waste energy playing that competition.

In football, it makes sense, if you ask an italian about his favorite team it will probably be an italian team, if you ask a german about his favorite team it will probably be a german team, the same for england, france, spain, so yes football has something to do with nations, and most of the players will rather get 1 World Cup trophy than 5-6 national league titles.( have no doubt about this).
In tennis nationality has nothing to do with your preferences, and nobody cares which country is the best.

btw yep Alex, Spain has won 5.
