So, are you part of our S and V club? looking forward to our S and V battle!

Heh well one of my players is S&V and I've been using him a bit lately to try out the style. I may use him in our match.. Not sure though! He has Brutal Volley with 70 in the Volley stat.. I think reflexes is 67. Do any other stats affect volleys?

I'm enjoying it.. Although I just played a match against a TI/MD guy..It was horrible! I couldn't hurt him with control top spin shots in rallies so I had to slice everything.. And for some reason he was able to return any type of serve so that the ball would bounce before I could volley thus forcing me to play a crappy, sitter-upper which he could then punish. The angles he could hit from non-sliced balls was frustrating.

my advice to you be dnt serve and volley straight away serve wait for short ball then come into net and finish with power volley

I am starting the refind my interest in TS4 as of lately. I had some great S&V matches with my S&V matey VillaJ.

A few days ago i had a Rafter - Sampras match which ended in 6-4 3-6 12-10 to Villa playing with Sampras.
A couple of hours back i beat his Rafter with my own created S&V player. Tight match which ended 7-6(5).

I'd say feel free to add me on PSN for some S&V battles. Looking forward to continue develop myself as a competetive S&V'er which is hard,

I'll play with you. I haven't played a SV being one myself.

That's cool!

Tomorrow i should be available around 19.00 CET; is that possible for you?

Sorry I don't think I can make that, I'm usually available after 9:00 p.m. I'll play you if I see you online. I'll add you.

two observations from dabbling with s&v:

1) michael kelly is the man
2) there's nothing more satisfying on the game than a well timed, well executed approach shot.

Good approach shots feel great.
I hate when you're trying to come in off (e.g.) a deep sliced control shot, and your player just refuses to move forwards quickly, even with RB held down.
Happens quite often. You just have to force into the net late, and lose the point, or retreat.

I find it 'comforting' that I wasn't the only one having issues with my player's refusal to approach the net, on command!

Sometimes this happens on 2 shots in a row, during a point, and I end up shouting at the screen!
I used to think I was indecisive... but now I'm not so sure.

I think it's unrealistic that a powerful shot makes the approach slower than a one with a control shot (yeah sometimes it happens with both shots), because, although the former are better approaches in ts4, in the real tennis, hitting hard the ball can help the player rushing to the net, just because hitting hard moves the hitter's weight forward. Instead, in real tennis, "control" shots aren't always the best for approaching.

At the top levels of play in real life, though, placement is everything on approach shots.

It's why a guy like Roddick gets burned the majority of the time he comes to the net...it's not that his volley mechanics are totally wrong, it's that he often hits poor, predictable, cross court approach shots that land a few feet past the service line.

LOLs yeah. If you watch federer backhand highlights on utube, I SWEAR 90% of them are passing shot winners aginst Roddick.
