Best setup with Matt Grody?

Postby DarkStriker97 » Mon, 11 Jul 2011 14:15

I'm using 6/8/6, but with my 7 match losing streak I think its time for a change

I think the full power setup you can get with him is the best - the 0/15/5 setup.
Seems I can't cross that threshold just yet :(

Totally agree. 50 stat in volley with the volley shot artist skill works very well. And you can have 2 good wings with goog power to stay alive in the baseline. This is one of the setups that I have now.

I´m not a top player, but I believe the 0/15/5 setup makes a more complete character. It makes easier to hit winners from the baseline, still allowing to execute good volleys. As a Fed fan, this is the setup that I could play more easily close to his style.

Played before all the updates 3/10/7, worked best for me.
After all updates I can't be as dominant with my serve as before so had to switch to another player :(

not really low speed plus low reflex can be exploited 50 volley is to low because you have low reflexes 6/6/8 is the best

I just agree with you about the reflex, but i don´t have problem with the 54 speed. As I am a player that like to attack the net sometimes (not like a SV), this setup fits better to my game. I see your setup more oriented for a S&V player, wich is not my case.

IMO, this is a question of personal preferences, and not wich one is better. The way i like to play I am pretty sure I have more chances in a match using the 0/15/5 setup. And this is the one of the best things in this game: the great variety of players we can make, even using the same coaches.

I have played with a setup similar to yours (I usually use serve and volley) and you can get away with a volley skill being in the low 50s. Its enough to put away easy shots that you set up with your groundstokes.

I dunno how you can use a 50's volley. I have trouble using volleys at 65

Then you likely "forcing" them. You need to pick your approaches better. I usually end up with 10/15 on Volley points in 2 sets with 39 volley.

Basic rule is that if you don't have a Volley Skill - then your volley is just to Finish points. You need to come to net when a point is practically won, basically to shorten the inevitable rally and to avoid mistiming the ball while you ahead in the rally.

If you do have a Volley Skill, understand what it does and attack the net with intent to use it on the first Volley. Then when advantage is gained - you can get creative.

I easily get 10 points on volley in a 3 set match with 40 volley.
