it's great that we have a big influx of new players (me amongst them). but with the good comes the bad as well. right now we're in the process of weeding out the bad seeds to eventually remain with the good ones. and by good ones i mean those of us who want to play fairly and respectfully, trying to imitate real life tennis while acknowledging that this is a video game.

i believe in ITST the desire to play an enjoyable, challenging match superseeds the need to win.

Just want to point out that high power set ups are in fact allowed on ITST, and are not considered cheesy by the site directors. Quiting a match with a player simply because you do not like his/her stats would result in a win for your opponent.

Tramline serving is a different story though. This is a cheesy tactic.

I agreed! Im new and played a few matches now! But after almost every match, I get complains!
First it was the tramline serve! (don't doing it anymore)
Then it was the dropshot, in my opinion I did it six times, my opponent said twenty times! (last match)
I like the powerfull player, (100 power) but on the other side, I have a 60 backhand, so that is a weak point, but then I hear it is cheesy to play with 100!
So I don't now what to do now, I hate nasty discussions.
Im also here for a fair game of tennis!
So if there is a list of thinks that are just cheesy, I now what to do!
Strange think is, I have lost alot of matches with this player, and many people say after the match gg!! One player said vgg!! And that was with the thinks I said above, (not the tramline!).

I agree I have played with a power set up for quite some time and I do not have a stellar record. I don't see how it can be deemed incredibly cheesy when it has so many weaknesses... backhand, speed, stamina...

Let's face it guys: THIS IS NOT AN OVER POWERED SET UP.

it is weird how the same crowd 1) complains about extreme setups with stats above 90, 2) but also doesnt want to do away with coaches (only use bronze) or have a cap for stats

personally, all stats are fine and fair enough...it is the ABILITIES that ruin setups. if everyone was forced to use a bronze coach then the gm would vastly improve...and, no it wouldnt be like pong

I am one of many newcomers here to ITST. I come from the world of EA Grand Slam Tennis, where anything goes . Lobs as approach shots, lob returns, drop shots every single point (that land just over the net), taking advantage bugs to gain free points... so I can definitely understand why a list of 'cheesy' tactics may be needed to make the game more enjoyable for everyone. Most of the top GST players adhered to code of conduct for fair play.

With that said, I don't plan to deviate too far from what you would expect to see in an actual tennis match but I also don't want to feel too restricted, i.e. being constantly worried if I'm hitting too many slices or hit a drop shot too many times in one game, etc. So let's try to keep the list to a minimum please. It won't be much fun if all we can do is hit medium powered flat shots.

This is true... we want to stray away from restricting the regular tour too much (that's what the SIM tour is for). TI/MD was ridiculous but now I think we're at a point where a variety of set ups are equally good. Why mess this up?

I don't find power to be very difficult to play all you have to do is back up and swing them side to side with top spin; slice if they pound it all you and bring them in if they're deep and hit it deep if they're in. Don't hug the baseline unless you ahead in the rallie. Most slow power p
ayers can't recover on wrong foots either so look to go behind them after you have forced them to scramble.

60 backhand is not weak with a 100 power, just pointing that out. Im not complaining, i usually dont have a hard time with 100 power

Lets get this straight here. I'm not talking about player setups. 100power is easy to counter in my mind. i don't think i have ever even lost to one. I am talking about ingame tatics. Tramline serving, excessive drop shots, etc. Its fine to drop shot when you have your oppenent on the run but not every single point or multiple times in a point.

Just a list of whats considered cheesy and and not allowed at ITST. So all of the new players are AWARE of them. Playing that future tournament I was just in was full of tramline serving. I won but that doesn't matter. Its no fun having 20 dueces in a game because he can only get his points off a tramline serve duece side court.
