Countering 91 serve 100+ power setup(their service game)

Postby MrMackNasty » Tue, 21 Jun 2011 05:45

I don't seem to have a problem with them until they serve duece court. There outside power serves at 140+ bring me so outside its just an easy winner to the open court. No matter what I try, control a,b,x, normal returns. even when i hit it perfect. Any tips?

block slice middle of the court with perfect timing, then he cant create angles. but you have to mix it up or else he is gonna take the ball in the air with drive volley

omg... Another "how to play VS power player" thread again?... :?
A little search before creating a thread is very welcomed on forums usually... USUALLY... Here it seems all right not to do so... :?
(sorry to all, I just don't understand... multiple similar threads turns a forum into a nightmare to follow... And can eventually give people the desire to leave... All those double, triple threads should be fusionned or something, to keep the forum "breathable" or easier to follow... multiple similar threads is also a lack of respect towards other people not creating double threads...)

(sorry again... Last time i get on my nerves about this kind of thing... Now you can all do what you want! I won't react anymore... Sorry! ^^)

Sorry but maybe if people actually answered the questions they wouldnt keep being created. Posts like yours is what ruins the threads and starts a posting war. I'm not gonna do that though. I just have trouble with 1 part of the 0-20-0 game

Hey man, you're kind of both right but why don't you give a little respect on the comment of someone who is around since 2008 and posted almost 2000 messages ?

Try topspin deep and cross court you player should be fading backward this allows you back foot to get set which really helps for getting a perfect return. You can also slice short down the line using this technique. To hit topspin down the line and slice in the middle of the court you need to step into the return. I use power return when ever I think the server is bringing the heat and control shot on slow spin serves. If the server is tramline serving your return are limited as you will likely have to back up and move out wide, you next shot will often have to be a slice. I hate tramline servers, I generally struggle to return against this tactic. If anyone has a great strategy to counter the tramline serves I would appreciate your information or hints and what makes you achieve success in your return game.

Well since they're standing at the tramlines they're probably just trying to serve super-wide, so I usually back up like '10 feet' and scoot over to the crowd...then either a deep topspin cross court return or a super short slice cross court return mixed up with down the line power flat shots to keep them guessing....after that it's just guessing if they go down the line or behind you but I always use the sprint button with these guys to get to the next shot as quick as possible....I just do whatever it takes to get in a rally and then they usually crumble cuz their whole strategy is based on one thing and one thing only

you cant do that vs a good player who employs tramline serving. they will crush you if u back way up...UNLESS of course you are glitch returning....

so why shouldnt tramline serving be banned...? ya ya the guy scoots down the line as u serve...then move him back! if people arent aware enough to realize they are serving at /near the tramline then they shouldnt be playing.

I agree 100%. Its so annoying when they say. I wasn't moving my guy the game just does it automatically. I played and ITST match the other day. The guy did this with this setup and he glitch returned. The tourney host still hasn't even opended my message. Seeing as its still in my OUTBOX.

I'm not saying you do it every single point, and besides I do it as he's tossing the ball...I have played a few good players who play like this but they're mostly crap

I move forward when they tramline serve - they're further away, so you have more time to react, plus it helps cut off the angle out wide..Also, I return almost 100% down the line - if you get to a tiebreak, and connect with one good return, you've usually won the set.

About the game moving you automatically: I played a guy the other day, and he actually did move back into position.... in the ad-court, where it moves you closer to the center. In the deuce court, he seemed content to let himself drift all the way to the doubles line.

A lot of the time in 2K open I don't even bother repositioning my guy.

1) Most of the time I'm using Agassi and he can't really hit extreme angled serves very consistently anyways...besides that's just not how I like to play, I don't want to hit girly slice serves outwide all day it's just not fun to me!

2) Most of the people you meet suck major ass and it's irrelevant where I'm serving from.

Of course if I'm playing a halfway decent player I reposition myself
