Tips for this setup?

Postby DarkStriker97 » Sat, 18 Jun 2011 03:11

I need tips to finish off points and combat serve and volley with this setup....
Attributes: Poisoned Slices, Smell of Blood
FH: 75
BH: 74
Serve: 71
Volley: 53
Power: 64
Stamina: 74
Speed: 68
Reflexes: 66

I've played some very good serve and volleyers but I haven't stood a chance at all. I need tips on how to at least be competitive against S&V.

Tips of constructing points is welcomed as well...

I'm no expert at all against S&V but I'll give it a shot:

Short slice in the middle when returning his serve can be effective. You could also try to go for a top spin return to his backhand corner if he serves far out on your forehand.. Then you can ofc try to go for a lob once the ball is in play.

As for your stats I personally like to have a big forehand to gain some edge, but that's just me.

Good luck, mate! I'm sure some others have better tips for you!

I've found that great flat returns somehow work to an extent. It has to be perfectly time though and standing on top of the baseline and not inside the court. Same for short topsin crosscourt return. Many people say slice but it's never been effective for me.
Seems I can't cross that threshold just yet :(

I serve and volley so giving you advice will probably lead to my downfall :?. From personal experience I know that the short slice isn't effective, it gives too much time for the volleyer to get to the net. The best returns are low topspin shots that sets up a chance to hit a flat passing shot. Also try hitting a deep, down the line topspin shot every once in a while to force the opponent to hit a volley that is hard to reach. It's all about giving the opponent a tough volley that is difficult to end the point with.
