Volley or half volley!?

It happens quite often to me:

I do stand near to the net, and instead of performing a decend volley my player does perfom a sluggish half volley totally wrong timed and so I become cannenfodder

Anyone can help me understand?

Yeah sometimes the game decides you shall wait. I don't know how to fix this soz, I'm not sv but like to approach net just to spice it up.

It sounds like you might be timing the half volley wrong. Is it too soon or too late? Playing SV you will have to expect to hit a fair amount of half volleys haha.

He probably means the moments where you should be able to hit a volley, but your player doesn't, instead letting the ball bounce right next to him. You've already timed for a volley, but because of that the half-volley is then too late.
