Postby jwestbury661 » Thu, 02 Jun 2011 21:30

i play with my andy murray player and i like playing with him as he is good at finishing points off at the net. But his power is only 57 and it seems so difficult to hit big winners? any help

I am just now getting confident with control shots.

I have been doing really damn well hitting like 85% power shots though

That's exactly how I started off, mostly hitting power shots and thinking that was the best way to win because it works great against computer opponents. Then I found out it doesn't guarantee the same kind of winning against good human opponents, looked at other aspects of the game and discovered control shots. Now 85% of my shots are control shots. :)

Well I am talking about playing humans, not CPU.

And I've known about control shots the whole time of course, I just haven't felt comfortable hitting them with online lag, until recently

The weird thing about this game is that a power shot game is actually less risky than a control shot game. With power shots, if you don't get perfect timing you can still get away with it a lot of the time because the power makes it harder to counter. With control shots though, if you don't get a perfect one, you just give your opponent a nice, weak shot to hit. Not exactly how it works in real life. :P

But a well executed control game is stronger than a well executed power game.

Control shot been working for me but it just feels like I'm trying harder to win points than them. I mean they get to hold down button while I have to just be ninja entire time. A ninja that factors in lag. Haven't run into an evil power guy just yet in itst. But I know it will be soon.

True, maybe...I think it's a lot easier to take the ball really early with power shots though

Yeah the problem is that a power game in TS4 is actually 'safer' than a control game. The punishment for a badly executed control game is there but it needs to be a bit more pronounced for a power game. In other words, power games should be more prone to errors. That makes a lot more sense to me.
