I recommend it to anyone that has it on his shelf to take the dust off it :)

MGS1 is maybe my favorite game ever. I remember just being completely awestruck by the attention to detail in that game, when it first came out. I still play it on my Gamecube every now and then (Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes) and it's still an amazing game

TBH I started playing MGS4 and couldn't really get into it...maybe I should give it a 2nd try, though

I thought MGS Snake Eater was a class game, on of the best PS2 games I have ever played. I loved its combination of stealth and combat and also realism and fun

Ooops actually that's what I was talking about...MGS3, not MGS4.

I'd give it a try right now but my PS2 is a 1st generation PS2 that I got in 2000....it works maybe 1 out of 10 times now.

A game that is very good and pretty much overlooked is ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West. I went in with no expectations and was left awestruck by the attention to detail and the great setting and story.
Kinda reminded me of a mixture of Beyond Good and Evil and Uncharted.
VERY good game, with immensely memorable characters.
Try it out for yourselves, you won't be disappointed.

Yeah snake eater was good as well. Most of the MGS games are top drawer. I agree vieira about MGS4, one the first bit is out the way it all good.

The End's boss fight in MGS3 was simply brilliant. especially if you shot his bird

Its a shame snake is dead though. Wont be the same to play it without him. It makes you think how far they could push boundaries with a PS4!

Mgs3, I still think is best game ever played, mind you did have subsistence so had a good 3rd person camera angle. It just all soo epic and the story is very good.

Mgs4 is also very good but one problem. Otacon-naomi romance OMG could something be any more forced and cheesey eghh. Also mgs4 watch all credits.

Mgs3 credits so good haha. Major ocelot may be the coolest mofo ever.

I'm not into robots or anything, but the bit in MGS4 where snake resurrects REX to take on liquid in RAY was epically cool

TomBs wrote:Red Dead Redemption? It's probably because I don't like the setting, but I gave up after playing a few hours, it just didn't get me.

GTA IV was a good game, but indeed when comparing it to Vice City and especially San Andreas it was very different. For some in a good way, but I didn't like it as much. Finished the storyline, but haven't replayed it since, while I must have finished San Andreas like 6 times (of which 2 or 3 to 100% even), en Vice City twice.

Gotta get into Gran Turismo 5 a bit more, especially since I have a nice racing wheel.

L.A. Noire could be a great game indeed. Also I still have to play Heavy Rain. Just don't want to buy a new game as long as I haven't finished my current games. But by now it'll probably be cheaper.

Another series I like is Uncharted. Great games, until a certain point. Finished the 1st game, but haven't finished the 2nd game, as I hated the story twist. Don't want to give it away for if someone hasn't played it yet, but those who have played might know what I'm talking about, it happened in both games, quite towards the end.

The beginning of Red Dead is definitely slow, but I think it's one of the 5 best games on PS3. Just all-around fantastic -- graphics, gameplay, writing.

I think my biggest problem with GTA4 is that I thought the writing was poor. I read everywhere how the storyline was great, but I didn't think it was good at all. The gameplay was still fun, but parts of it got annoying (having to answer phone calls and do things with your friends or else they'd stop being friends with you -- seemed like a good concept, but it got old VERY quickly). But mostly the story just didn't draw me in; I felt like they used characters for a few missions then just got rid of them rather than developing them.

Also love Uncharted, but I agree with you about the plot twists. I actually enjoyed it in the first one, but the second one I just knew it was coming and I wasn't really a fan. Seemed like everyone thought the second one was better, but I enjoyed the first one more -- I think partially because I liked the setting of the tropical islands better than the settings in Uncharted 2; gave them a chance to show off more scenery. But also because I really did not like the last few chapters after the "plot twist" in Uncharted 2.

I agree 10000%, especially about the writing...I felt the dialogue was very forced-sounding and cheesy, especially between Niko and his fat cousin or whatever....see I can't even remember the other guy's name.

Vice City was epic; GTA4 was a huge letdown, I still try to play it sometimes but can hardly stand playing it for more than an hour before it bores me to tears with things exactly like you mentioned, like the constant stupid phone calls...

Best mgs game for me was the mgs2 on ps2. I ve played it a long time ago and i still remember vividly most of the storyline. If i remember correctly, the protagonist was Raiden (blonde guy) and you could see snake helping him around at certain moments. I was a bit paranoid as well with the plot with the patriots and all that computer stuff.

MGS2 has one of my favorite parts of any game, when the Colonel starts sending you all that crazy crap and you realize he's a robot...

'I HEAR IT'S AMAZING WHEN THE FAMOUS PURPLE STUFFED WORM IN FLAP-JAW SPACE WITH THE TUNING FORK, DOES A RAW BLINK ON HARI-KIRI ROCK! I NEED SCISSORS!! 61!!!'

'Actually, I am in really bad shape financially. I pay money to my ex-wife as part of our divorce settlement, among other bills... I just had no choice but to make you pay for lunch the other day. I'm really sorry.'

Colonel: Raiden, turn the game console off right now.
Raiden: What did you say?
Colonel: The mission is a failure. Cut the power right now.
Raiden: What's wrong with you?
Colonel: Don't worry, it's a game. It's a game just like usual.
Rosemary: You'll ruin your eyes playing so close to the TV.
Raiden: What are you talking about?
Colonel: Raiden. Something happened to me last night when I was driving home. I had a couple of miles to go. I looked up and saw a glowing orange object in the sky. It was moving irregularly. Suddenly, there was intense light all around. And when I came to, I was home. What do you think happened to me?
Raiden: Huh?
Colonel: Fine, forget it.

Some of the LOLsiest stuff to ever appear in a video game

Yeah actually if you read the comments on those clips on Youtube, you see lots of kids saying "I actually turned the game off" HAHAHA...that is so late in the game, you would have to play SOOO long to get back to that point if you hadn't been saving regularly...it really is one of the most epic moments of any game, ever. I remember playing that for the 1st time and thinking 'WTF IS GOING ON'.

It's like that AWESOME part in MGS1 when you're in the elevator and Otacon tells you that there's 4 guys with stealth suits in the elevator with you

this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XLiaASkEIk

This part was one of the few things in video games that has genuinely scared me  I don't know why, I guess just the tension leading up to that part was unbearable.

MGS1 and MGS2 are seriously works of genius in my mind. Soooooo many crazy little twists, secrets, etc...like Psycho Mantis 'reading' your memory card. That maybe isn't that big of a deal now but trust me that was blowin people's minds back then
