They will, you just have to wait until more tournaments end allowing most of the ranking points to be distributed/added.

All the tournaments should be finished and rankings updated before the next wave of tournaments begin on May 2. So those tournaments will be the first with seeds.

rankings

Postby MysteryPlayer » Sat, 23 Apr 2011 13:09

yes this is a joke. I can't believe these rankings. without rules to be in the top ten I would be ashamed to feel worthy of this performing ranking. I still feel I am a top ten player because I always have a fair player to bring to the court.

ok

It starts to get on my nerves , those player who lose just because we play with TI/MD.

They think they are "Top spin god" ans they will never lose when Sim rules will be made.

Agreed. I love the way some people disregard our success because we're playing a game they can't master. Don't really understand how being good at SIM in any way insinuates superiority. It merely means you're better at playing a SIM game. Obviously if you can only win on SIM and not on the normal tour, that implies inability to adapt and master all game types which isn't exactly an indication of superiority in my book.

You know what Mr. Berson? Let SIM tour come and let's show them why we are top players on TS4.

Hmmm I disagree to be honest.

I had huge success in TS3 SIM (world number 1) and big success in the normal tour before I retired (5 titles & 75% winning record) and in TS4 my level is still there (reached final of first tournament) so I feel I am justified in my following comments.

It is by no means a coincidence that so many members are talking about TI/MD because it is overpowered and in my opinion it makes poor or very average players look good against non TI/MD setups. See the below link for a quick reminder of discussions that are ongoing and the sheer volume of replies to this one post (100+).

I can't talk about your level because I have never played you and as you are on PS3 I guess I never will but taking the example of Mr Berson...

He is a class player, with TI/MD he is great and without TI/MD he is great - he technically knows how to play the game and shot selection, timing and positioning makes him one of the best. Some are not so fortunate.

However being good at SIM absolutely commands more respect in my opinion, I would not go as far as saying "superiority" as you put (we are not that big headed :) ). Quite simply I can play TI/MD well and I was a good 90/40 player in TS3 but TI/MD especially requires a lot less natural skill because the setups carry players and make poor players then average or good players then great. Obviously if you play TI/MD vs TI/MD there is no mismatch but the depth of the game is not explored. Stamina, speed, slicing, flat shots etc are all less important if not pointless at times because the first player to seal a perfect cross court topspin shot to paint the lines will be in command of the rally - boring!

I understand that talks are being held about coach setups to combat TI/MD which is great that people are investing time in it but this setup is dull and a good majority of ITST already think so. Imagine if every member played with TI/MD, it would be as a dull as the World Tour is right now and will continue to be until 2k fixes it.

I am fairly confident in the fact that a SIM tour will come some day when the time is right. Once players have a weak wing thrown in like 55 on backhand and speed of only 58 rather than 80 FH, 89 BH, 78 Power and low stats on others that don't really matter as much (e.g. volley and reflex) then the REAL talented players will reign supreme. Control shots will be more key, taking advantage of your opponents weakness by playing to their weak wing or wearing them down because they have low stamina and then finishing them will become the key to success - not topspin left to right to left to right to monster unrealistic defending.

I am never going to be convinced that a setup like TI/MD is skilled, fun or not overpowered however I do respect other members have their own opinions and sometimes very different to the likes of mine.

people think that Shakespeare, Cervantes, Becquer, Dickens, Lorca etc are the greatest writers of all time when in reality they're not even fit to tie Baggy's shoelaces

I guess the problem is that I've only just started out here and never had the chance to play, nevermind compete in a SIM environment. I can understand how the promise of increased realism might be attractive to a lot of dedicated players, I mean I like the sound of the idea too, but without ever having experienced it, I find it hard to imagine how it can be ideally balanced too. I also can't vouch for how much more skill you might require to play SIM or how much more fun it is.

I guess the only solution is for me to experience SIM for myself so I can pass some sort of judgement on it. Otherwise it's hard for me to compare anything with it.

So having said that, anyone on the PS3 play a SIM game? I'd like to test this out and see the difference for myself so I can legitimately comment on it. Of course, we'll have to wait until the PSN is back up. :?

Hi all,

When will the ranking points be distributed?

By the way, I'm wondering, why don't you distribute the points straight after the player looses ?

The problem is that even if you won a tournament you're still allowed to signup for a 100+ tourney as your points won't show up until several weeks

The ranking points of a certain week will be added once every tournament of that week is finished.

We do this because we believe it is the method that is the most fair. For example, lets say you are in a tournament quarter final and win the match against someone just below you in the rankings. Your opponent already receives his points and you not. So that means he could jump over you in the rankings and for example have a better seeding position in a new tournament.

That is why we try to be as strict as possible with the deadlines. If we would slack off the ranking update system we have now wouldnt work. It is also similar to the method the ATP is using. Their tournaments are just a lot shorter.

I know it can be a bit frustrating to wait for your points but i dont see any other method out there that is better for us.

What we could do is to detach the challenger/future tournaments from the 250/500/1000/Grand Slam tournaments. These tournaments are sometimes smaller and thus ready sooner.

Ok I got it :)
You made it crystal clear.

I'm not really asking this for my own frustration but for the players who are seeded in future / challenger series getting beated By "unranked" players. That and the fact that it's common to see players with a great win/loss ratio playin these...it sounds unfair to me..

I've beated seed n°1 in a future series and my opponnent got Soooo frustated that i felt guilty winning...
The worst part is that i easilly understand his frustration...

As time passes, the rankings will be more accurate. It just takes a little time for things to get sorted, since the game is new.
